Your P.O.V.
You think being the Hokage's daughter would entitle you to a little bit of special treatment. Ha, not at all. I had to work twice as hard to receive my mother's recognition. Walking to her office, I sighed heavily before entering the room. Another exhausting task after another. I put a smile on my face and opened the door. "Good morning Tsunade" I greeted. Mother's eyes narrowed at me as she let out a huff. "I don't know why you keep calling me that instead of mom." she grumbled. "Sorry mom. It's just weird now that you're the Hokage." I admitted. Observing the room I wasn't surprised to see Sakura training. I was only a year older than her, yet she completed the training faster than I did. "So, you got any missions for me?" I asked with a yawn. She seemed disgusted with my lack of manners. "I would like you to accompany Shikamaru today and get some training in." she ordered. I mock saluted and left to go find the lazy ninja.

Sakura smiled at me before I left, I smiled back. Finding Shikamaru wasn't a challenge, but finding the will to stay by his side with Temari? Yikes. The tension between them was suffocating. "When the both of you decide to grow up and confess your feelings, I better be the first to know. Right now I need to train." I teased. Shikamaru scoffed and rolled his eyes. Temari did the same. I couldn't help but to grin when I seen the look in their eyes. Deep down, they felt for one another. Suddenly, I felt a familiar presence and noticed the blonde haired idiot who was strangely influential to me. Naruto Uzumaki. I smirked as I remembered our last encounter. Our eyes met and soon enough, the boy was walking towards me.

The last time I seen him, he was significantly shorter than me. Now, he and I are the same height it's almost embarrassing. "Um, hi, (Y/N)." he awkwardly greeted with a small smile. "That's all you have to say after your absence? How pathetic Uzumaki. If you're looking for your girlfriend, she's with my mother." I replied, walking pass him. I didn't want to be around the boy any longer, but he wasn't going to let me get away so easily. "Hey, I know I left things kind of awkward here, but maybe we should talk about it?" he suggested. It was tempting, but I couldn't do it. Not after the way Sakura would talk about him.

"My schedule is full, but I'll see you around Uzumaki" I said. With that, I walked to the training grounds to go clear my head. I couldn't shake this feeling away. It's foolish of me to think that he meant the words he said that day. Out of frustration, I started to work on my accuracy when it came to the shuriken and kunai. That's when a certain face emerged from the shadows. "Avoiding him isn't going to make things easier" Neji stated. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. Neji always states the obvious. "You know I can't act like it didn't happen. Oh man, why'd I have to go falling for a dumb little kid like him?" I sighed.

Neji chuckled. "That kid is the same boy who stood up to your mother for you, who changed my perspective on life, and saved your life when we tried to get Sasuke back. Remember?" he reminded. I broke eye contact when I realized he was right. I didn't care to say anything else about the situation. Neji stood beside me and chuckled. "There's nothing wrong with having a conversation about it. You just have to act maturely." Neji commented.

"Pervy Sage, did I do something wrong?" I questioned. All he could do was grin and shake his head. "Tsunade and I created a very opinionated child, even she has that attitude towards us" he laughed. Then he smiled fondly, admitting that I did screw up, but also reminding me that I still have time to make things right. After visiting everyone, I looked for (Y/N). When I found her, she was sharpening her weapons. "Hey, can we talk?" I asked. She avoided eye contact with me and continued to sharpen her weapons before sealing them into a scroll.

She sighed and finally looked me in the eyes. Her (E/C) eyes tried to figure out my next move. "What is it Uzumaki?" she asked. "I just want to say that I'm sorry. I should've addressed what happened between us. I promise that what I said and what I did meant something. I was a kid back then, but I thought about it everyday. I thought about you everyday. I got stronger so I could come back and show you that I'll protect you." I admitted with a sheepish grin. "No, I'm the one that's sorry Naruto. I let my jealousy get the best of me and I didn't give you the chance to explain anything. While you were gone, Sakura would talk about you. She would mention admirable qualities about you that she's never talked about before. When you were kids, you really liked her, so a part of me was worried that you'd choose her. I was worried that you would forget all about me." she explained while avoiding my stare.  She didn't like to be vulnerable, but I was the only person she's ever opened up to. I couldn't help but smile as I remembered the day I left.

"Hey, so I'm leaving with your dad soon. But that doesn't change anything, you're still going to be my girlfriend, got it!?" Naruto shouted at the older girl who blushed madly. She tried to scold the boy, despite how happy his declaration made her. "You're just a kid! You shouldn't go around saying ridiculous things like that!" she lectured. "You're just afraid to admit that you like me!" Naruto exclaimed. That caught (Y/N) by surprise. She didn't want to admit he was right, but she couldn't ignore the way she felt about the boy. Instead of arguing with him, she wrapped her arms around Naruto and held him close.

"You talk too much" (Y/N) joked through the tears. Jiraiya told his daughter about the dangerous organization that was after Naruto. They wanted the beast inside of him. "Hey, hey, don't cry, I promise I'll come back. We'll continue right where we left off." he assured the girl. She wiped the tears from her eyes and smiled fondly at the boy.

"You're the only one I want (Y/N). I'm sorry I messed up, but I promise I'll do better." I stated while holding out my pinky. Her smile was so bright, she's beautiful when she's happy. She interlaced her pinky with mine and giggled. "You know, if you break this promise, I get to chop your pinky off." she teased. Suddenly a voice interrupted us. "Lady Tsunade told me to come get you, because you're a part of the team for now. Our opponents is Kakashi-sensei." Sakura informed. She wasn't looking at me, she was talking to (Y/N). The annoyed look on (Y/N)'s face made me chuckle. "What's my mother thinking? A Jonin with a Chunin and a Genin? It's a bit unfair to Kakashi, but I won't complain." she muttered to herself.

Wait, she's a Jonin? "Hold up! When did you become a Jonin!?!" I exclaimed. She sheepishly smiled and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Yeah, I was promoted not too long ago" she answered. "Wow! My girlfriend's a Jonin!" I bragged while holding her in a bear hug. All she could do was surrender to my embrace. Even though I couldn't see her face, I knew she was as red as a tomato. "N-Naruto!" she exclaimed. After that, we walked towards Kakashi-sensei hand in hand. She had a confident smirk on her face when she made eye contact with Kakashi. I couldn't help but admire the way she looked. "Now, show me what you got Naruto, I want to see if my father actually taught you something." she teased. "Heh, just you wait. When I'm Hokage, you won't be so smug!" I retorted with a grin. I wouldn't trade this for the world. "I love you (Y/N), thanks for helping me on this journey" I stated. She squeezed my hand and smiled brightly. "I love you too, Naruto."
