Men
Surround me
I held them
Talked to them
Lead them
And you protected me

I believed in my brothers
And the soul of my fellow companions
They had good to offer
Just like any other

Yet it feels like the wires have been crossed
Because love is being strived for
But not taught how to love
My brothers
confused between the concept of power and the ideals of love
The misconceptions and miscommunications
Dividing us

Yet I held your hand
You were family
I put my trust
My faith
In you

I knew I would be okay
Because there is good in you

I pride myself on being hopeful,
Always looking up,

There is always water
Because I saw enough

However,
The glass may be half full
Yet water is murky

The faith I had,
Suddenly is not so clear
The traditional rights and wrongs
Got lost in translation
Leaving us a generation
Without any real ambition
We may be fighting for causes
Yet our social usage is unwinding
Any compassion worth holding

The encouragement of treating your sisters like objects or tool
Taking the hands that once feed you
Bending them to not resist you
Taking advantage of their mind and body
So it can fuel your ignorance
They continue to disrespect woman
Expressed in lack of effort to treat woman with respect and care
Men having such low expectations from woman
Then manipulating woman to lower theirs
They know their intentions are never pure
Rather they are black hearted men
Undeserving to walk among the earth

These sad souls make it hard to believe in good men
The idea of walking alone
Is more fruitful than
Wasting time with such emotionless
Disrespectful
And incompentent men
