*11:30 am. Your Pov*

Jim walked up to my desk and smiled at me

"Gonna go sell to some lawyers. Wish me luck" He patted my desk as he walked out

"Good luck!" I shouted

"You better be back in time for her party!" Michael yelled

"I'll try" He smiled at me and closed to door

"Y/n, dear, what's your favorite kinda cake?" Phyllis asked me

"You guys don't have to throw me a party" I said

"We throw everyone a party! We love it!" Phyllis smiled at me

"I like any kinda cake except carrot and ice cream cake" I smiled at her

She nodded and headed back to the conference room with Angela

*At the restaurant. Jim's Pov*

I walked up to the hostess and told her I was meeting someone here. I had completely forgotten to ask Michael the name of the man I was meeting. That's, like, salesman rule number 1! Know the name of the customer before they tell you

"Mr. Halpert..." She looked down through her list and smiled up to me

"Table for 2. Your friend is here already" She said as she grabbed a menu and walked me to a small table in the back. When we got to the table the man sitting there stood up and shook my hand. He was about as tall as me, which is pretty interesting considering I'm pretty tall. He had sharp black hair that was combed back and he was wearing a very expensive suit

"Hi there, I'm Jim, Jim Halpert" I said

"I'm Cody Schmit. Founder and employee of Schmit law firm" He smiled at me and we sat down

"Oh my god this is Y/n's ex! He's based in New York! What's he doing here??" I thought to myself. I decided to question him before I sold anything to him

"Schmit law? I've heard of your firm! But I thought you were based in New York?" I asked

"I was. Decided I needed a little bit of a change. Plus..." He looked around and then looked back to me, leaning forward

"Just between us guys...My ex moved down here. Decided what better way to show her I want her back? Move my whole firm to this crappy town. No offense" He said as he leaned back in his chair

"None taken"I fake chuckled

"So, Halpert, sell me some paper" Cody smiled at me

"Uh, yeah, that's why I'm here after all" I smiled back

*Two hours later*

Cody signed his name on the dotted line and his company was now doing business with Dunder Mifflin. I know he's her ex but he wouldn't ever have to deal with her. It would strictly be with me

"You're a great guy. Good salesman" Cody said as he sipped his drink

"Welp, you're a good customer" I awkwardly smiled. I just wanted this lunch to be over

"Look, I gotta be honest with ya" Cody said

"I love honesty" I said

"I heard from a friend of a friend that my ex works for Dunder Mifflin. That's why I picked this paper company. You ever met her? Y/n L/n?" He asked me

"Uh, yeah. I've seen her around the office..once or twice" I said

"Today is her birthday. So I plan on going to her, your, office and telling her that I'm moving the firm here and that I want her back. Can you help me out?" He asked me
