The Promises

It was you and me
Innocent and free
Like a frail daisy
.

We fly with our might
Like lovebirds in the night
And flutter past the right
.

We made promises out of uncertainty
Like travellers unsure of where to be
It's how we shaped our destiny
.

Like standing on the edge of a cliff
We made shelter from a precarious leaf
As if feeding on a poisoned beef
.

Those promises started like leaves
In the springtime as it cleaves
In trees around, they grew in sheaves
.

But promises cannot stay sublime
Like flowers that withers in time
It will die like saplings covered in rime
.

Those promises that fell out of place
Gives us remorse and dismays
Like falling leaves on windy days
.

The promises that we hurriedly made
Are now gone along the glade
Never to be seen again as they fade
.

It was you and me
Broken and they can't see
Like shattered ice in sea
