After school, the newly formed trio was walking out of the school talking animatedly. They had only met each other that morning and already were acting like they’ve been best friends since birth.

“So I met Lauren.” Camila spoke suddenly, causing the other two girls to look at her with worry in their faces.

“Shit, did she eat you alive?” Dinah asked, eyes wide. “Every time I force myself to associate with her I pray to everything possible. She’s the ice queen. Literal ice queen. Her soul is cold. That, or non- existent.”

Camila chuckled as she recollected the awkward and brutal moment briefly. She wasn’t as bad as she thought. Sure, she did look like she had a mean streak…but a part of her still wanted to see her again. Especially to hear her play the piano. “She wasn’t that bad…”

“Key word: that.” Normani butted in as they crossed the street. “But what happened? You still look fully intact.”

The Cuban-Mexican shrugged. “I was just making my way to see Mrs. Freya, and I heard piano playing. Brilliant piano playing might I add.” She said, smiling. “And then I just followed the sound and found myself in the music room I guess. So I just kind of stood there watching her play and she was just so…fascinating.” She told them. “And then I dropped my stuff and she heard me and I freaked out. She was definitely not pleased that someone was watching her. So we exchanged words briefly…hers weren’t very kind. But I didn’t take it to heart.” She looked at her two friends. “I don’t know, it was weird…”

“Why weird?” Normani asked.

“Because…” Camila chewed on her lower lip as she thought of what to say next. “She told me what she was playing. And I felt like she doesn’t just tell anyone that, you know? For a brief moment, I think she was glad someone was there.” She shrugged. “But that’s just my opinion.”

Dinah and Normani exchanged looks, both their eyebrows raised. “Sounds like Lauren caught your attention there Mila…” Dinah trailed off, smirking. “You sound like you got a little crush there.” She teased.

“What?” Camila asked in confusion. “I mean—yeah—she seems interesting but I’m not into her. I talked with her for, like, five minutes.” She retorted. “And in those five minutes she wasn’t doing anything that would make me like her in that way.”

Normani shrugged. “Whatever you say…for the record, I hope we didn’t offend you by making the assumption that you’re a lesbian or anything.” She said quickly.

Camila shook her head. “No, you didn’t. Because I am one.” She shrugged indifferently.

“Oh.” The dark-skinned girl said simply. “Then I take it back.”

“You guys don’t mind, right? That I’m a lesbian?” Camila asked, chewing on her lip. She was pretty open when it came to her sexuality. It took her a while to fully accept who she was, but she’s been out of the closet since the middle of her freshman year. Both her parents supported her and found no problem of who their daughter loved, as long as she was happy. And her friends didn’t mind either. But of course, there were always those few individuals that found something wrong with it, but she would shake it off.

Dinah and Normani shook their heads. “Not at all. You do you Mila.” Dinah smiled. “Besides, I felt rather flattered when you checked out my ass fourth period.” She smirked.

Camila blushed. “Shut up.” She muttered. “It’s huge, that is not my fault.”

“So is yours! It’s pretty nice if I do say so myself.” Dinah smirked, blatantly checking out Camila’s ass just to tease her.
