-Zuri-

It's been around a week since Kayla, all of us were still upset. I knew Jesse took it the hardest, I sat with Hunter, still so confused, his eyes were a really light brown, almost yellow and his hair was white. I knew he could now control the power inside him from the fog but he kept me at a distance because he was afraid of something, I couldn't stop remembering the way Kayla smiled when I killed her. Jesse and Blake had called a meeting, so I left my room. Seeing Rory and Emanuel in the corner talking while Hunter distanced himself, I'll admit I liked the white hair on him. Derek came in and stood beside me, smiling at me. I couldn't bring myself to smile, I hated that I was the one to kill Kayla either way. Blake and Jesse cleared their throats, getting out attention, Jesse still wouldn't look me in the eyes as he spoke

"Me and Blake decided to out in a transfer to another base, within the next few months after we leave, you will get a new girl, named Eden, treat her well."

The shock generated through the room but no one spoke up, I watched as Blake and Jesse left, then the talking went up in flames, Hunter looked like he sighed but I couldn't go talk to him.

"Zuri...you okay with Bake leaving?"

Derek asked, looking at me and I shrugged

"I had a feeling and I should have listened to Derek, that's all there is to it."

"Zur-"

I cut him off by walking out, I felt the same thing I did when I watched my family dying. I seemed to stop caring somewhere in there as well, because as I said before, she was going to die it was a matter of when. I sat on my bed and looked at the knife I had used, there were still traces of blood from her

"I wish...for once I could save people instead" my thoughts kept running wild. I'd been so cold and emotionless for so long, so just when I was trying to help others, they die. I watched my door open and Rory slip in, her eyes still dead and her smile still forced

"Drop the happy act Rory, I know you don't care"

She nodded and sat at the end of my bed

"Look Zuri, until recently I haven't ever cared for people, I met emanuel when I was thirteen and I was deadly ill along with hundreds of others, He always made a cure for everything but he was just another one of the scientists to me. He's changed and I can tell you have too."

I looked at her, her purple eyes were very kind in that moment, but I couldn't bring myself to care any less

"And?"

"My point is, I think you're questioning why you do things right? Don't. I've wondered if I was human or something else for so long, you and your friends have showed me what it's like to care, I heard you've been so emotionless since you got here, but recently you had a soft spot for the girl who died. Killing her may have hurt but you did all you could"

"Rory, get the fuck out before I kill you too"

She nodded and left, softly closing the door behind her. These people are going to die, I'm no different.

-Blake-

I had seen Zuri that day, she looked like she was broken all over again, I knew how she felt about herself right now was no different from the first day I met her.

"Hey, Blake. This is Zuri. Treat her well and train her well."

This girl standing in front of me, her eyes showed nothing. Her blue eyes looked like she wasn't sad or upset, but dead. Almost as if she was living but dead at the same time.

"Okay. Shall we start then Zuri?"

"It doesn't matter. I do nothing but get people killed."

The crack in her voice said much more then she personally did. But day by day she got better, stronger. She seemed to let her guard down with me sometimes, but she hated letting people close.

To this day I feel like I need to protect her, she is like a sister to me. Leaving is the best thing I can do, she can manage by herself. I knew by now she felt like it was her fault, so I Waited for her usual trip. When I saw her, her eyes looked like they did that day, she looked reckless when she looked up at me. For her sake I let her throw punches at me until dawn, then she was practicing with her sword again when Hunter came by, watching her while he said

"How's it going?"

"You mean her? She's not doing so good but she'll pull through. But if you don't mind I have to pack."

He nodded and left. A few hours after Zuri did too and I was left alone, looking around the training room and remembering things. Man how I'd miss this place.
