I really did not expect that the city of Palembang was as metropolitan as this. Being in the Trans Musi bus is like inside the Damri bus in Lampung city. Traffic jam. Hot. Far. The driver honked loudly. I continued to stand almost all the way from Kertapati satu ulu ( from my grandmother house ) to the city center.

Arriving at the Lower Ampera bus stop, I walked out of the bus with dozens of other passengers, greeted with scorching weather and the fishy smell of fish that landed in the nostrils.

after arriving at the destination, with thirsty and also hungry. tired of covering this body after standing for about 20 minutes in the bus. However, that shadow immediately evaporated when I found self-reliant food hawkers along the bottom of the Ampera Bridge, even they did not hesitate to offer their wares to people around. Okay, my stomach is safe !!! I thought.

I immediately walked quickly to the edge of the road, and a little more advanced
to the edge of the foundation that became the boundary between the river and the land. The brownish water flows triumphantly without being hampered by household garbage.

An old man came over, offering boat transportation services through the Musi River. Local people call it the name “ketek”. Without thinking, I immediately set Pulau Kemaro as a destination. The three of us agreed at a price of Rp 50,000.00 after a short bargain had occurred. I then invited cantika and paris, my two younger siblings who wanted to also visit and join in walking. But unfortunately, the old man said that the tariff of Rp. 50,000.00 is the rate per person, not the tariff per boat. Even though I invited them both in the hope of being able to save the boat fare.

We spent about an hour waiting for some passengers who were interested in visiting the Kemaro isl

and. and finally some young couples joined in the "ketek". and the three of us left for Kemaro Island. The boat was moored a few meters from the pier, so we had to jump through the safety fence and walk down the wooden stairs to step on the coastal river.
We began to sail the Musi River.

The journey to Kemaro Island lasted 35 minutes. Local settlements along the banks of the Musi river are interesting offerings that drive away boredom during the trip. Floating and floating houses lined up, Approaching the island of Kemaro, the left side of the river was filled with ships PT Pusri (Pupuk Sriwijaya) that were dashing unmoved. Several times the boat swayed violently, crashing down the waves created by fast boats and large ships splitting the river. From afar, the towering Kemaro Island pagoda greeted us who were still in the ketek. Moments later, the old man tethered the boat to the dock. We walked out, entered Kemaro Island which looked very quiet that afternoon.

We climbed a small road that led to a small gate with thick Chinese nuances. Washed in red and crowned with a pair of liong-shaped ornaments facing each other. The next minute, we were greeted with a pagoda, a place of worship for the tridharma (Buddha, Taoism, Confucianism). The temple looked very empty at the time, closed the door tightly without any activity.

We found a pagoda that stood a few meters behind the temple, rising to nine floors. Unfortunately, the pagoda cannot be entered, let alone climbed. Even though it will be really fun, enjoy the panoramic view of the Musi River and the city of Palembang from the highest floor of the pagoda.

There is not much we can do on Kemaro Island other than walking around, looking around and taking pictures. His deserted condition made the island seem like it was neglected. There are only a handful of beverage traders selling lazily. Looks like we didn't spend a long time on Kemaro Island. We were delivered back to the bottom of the Ampera Bridge by the owner of the boat waiting near the dock. That’s all stories from me about traveling to Kemaru Island in Palembang City.
