Just Generational

————————————————

Her culture tells her to forget what she feels
That it's somehow better for her
To merely let go of the hurt she feels
The numbness in her soul
It's more secure for them
To claim that their daughter is ok
For why shouldn't she be
She's physically fine
But mentally a mess
That doesn't matter though right?
Her neighbours should believe that they are a perfect family
That somehow their depressed daughter would be a blemish on their canvas
So she stays silent
Because if no one else cares
Why should she
Let her live off her mask of perfection
Let the cycle continue
And let her believe her parents don't secretly feel the same
