One Day

———————————————one day when you wake up
in your comfortable bed, having accomplished
all that you wanted
next to the woman you married
with the job you wanted
and the house you created
you'll feel the tug in your hug, the painful loss
of the woman you met,
you were young and foolish, but you knew
you knew you loved her, but you let her go
now realizing
you spent all this time building your life
with no one to spend it with
at least not the one you wanted
but that's just life?
