Chapter 4

"What are you doing here?" Josh asked.
"I got a call from your brother. I came a week ago. Helping out with Auggie and the funeral."
"Of course," Josh said.
"Didn't he tell you?"
"When does he ever? It's nice seeing you. How long are you staying?" Josh asked.
"Auggie can you give us a moment alone please?" Maya asked and Auggie went to his room.

"What was that for?" Josh asked.
"You know why. What is going on between you and your brother?"
"Don't want to know," Josh said as he sat down on the couch.

Maya looked at him with shallow tears in her eyes.
She knew that she would do that and because if that she had to get Auggie away.
She sights as she just gives up.
Shs isn't going to argue with Josh right now and neither is he.
He didn't even bother looking at her so they were absolute strangers.
Maya pinched her eyes to stop to tears and cleared her throat.

"What are you doing here? I got the impression you didn't come her so much anymore," Maya said as she tidied up.
"Came to see how Auggie is doing. He's taking us hard. I didn't think he would take it that bad," Josh said.
"She was his sister. Of course he would take it bad," Maya said.
"He has been..."

Josh looked up at Maya and saw that tears escaped from her eyes.
She tried to hide it but she couldn't.
Not from him anyway.
He knew her way too well.
He stood up and went to Maya.

"Okay," Josh said and took Maya's hand.

He dragged her to the couch and they sat down.

"Just catch your breath, okay?"

He could clearly see that she wasn't going to be okay or trust him overnight.
He did something which made her be like this.
He knows it.

"How? How did everything end up like this? How..."

Maya couldn't get anything else out.
She bursted into tears and buried her face in her hands.
Josh pulled her close to him and held her tight.
He knew nothing would make it okay and she was going to be like that for awhile.
He also knew this was gonna influence everyone very bad.
Topanga, Cory, Auggie even Lucas.
But Maya was going to suffer the most.
And nobody had a clue how to handle everything.
