The party had hit full swing and David had yet to see any trace of Frankie or Zane or Matt for that matter.
Earlier in the day, Matt and Zane offered to go and get Frankie, not giving Jason any room to fight and it was around eleven o'clock and they had yet to show up.
David tried to not let it bother him, drowning out the knowledge in filming clips of his friends. His house wasn't packed but the usual group of Instagram models and his vlog squad friends were all hanging out, along with a couple of other people.
But from across the living room, he heard the door open, and the laughs of Zane and Matt prominently mixing in with the music.
But he didn't focus on that, but rather he focused on the girl that stood in between the two boys.
Matts' arm was around her shoulder, and she and Zane were linked arms. It dawned on him right then and there just how close the trio was. They didn't care about the entrance they made, they only cared about the joke that Frankie seemed to have made, holding in-n-out cups.
David watched as Jason came up to them, both of the boys removing their arms from Frankie as she moved to hug her dad and kiss him on the cheek, nodding her head and shaking her in-n-out cup.
For the first time in his life, David didn't know how to approach the girl, and so he didn't.
Frankie, on the other hand, was eager to meet the infamous David Dobrik, who seemed to have the world at his feet.
The way her father talked about him made her wanna know the boy, regardless of the crazy stunts he always seemed to pull.
She realized soon after she walked in that if she wanted to meet David, she would have to do it on her own, away from her newfound best friends and borderline bodyguards, Zane and Matt.
She stood by the island of Davids kitchen, talking to Carly and Erin, sipping on her soda cup from in-n-out. She observed David and the people around him. It was clear that a few of his model friends were into him, despite his oblivious nature, and it was also clear that the boy was a well-oiled machine. He thought a lot about what he was doing, where the camera was being pointed at, and all the details that Frankie would've honestly not cared about had she been the one holding the camera.
"Girl, you're staring," Erin said, teasing the younger girl and Frankie drew her eyes from David to the girl next to her.
"He's interesting." was all Frankie would come up with and Carly snorted.
"We know, have you not spoken to him yet?" Carly asked and Frankie shook her head.
"No, is that weird?" Frankie asked and Erin and Carly shared a look.
"I mean, he's probably just busy" Erin added and Frankie nodded her head slowly. Both Erin and Carly knew that David was a social butterfly, and they didn't think the boy would pass up the opportunity to meet Jason Nash's infamous daughter. So when they heard that David had not even mumbled out a hi to the girl, it was odd.
Frankie in that moment felt a little insecure. Was there something that made David not wanna talk to her? She thought in that second that maybe she should go home, but when she saw David walk outside to his garden, she thought that maybe it was time to talk to him.
"I'm gonna go say hi" Frankie mumbled to particularly no one, but Erin and Carly were on the receiving end, both nodding their heads, watching as the young girl walked out into the backyard.
She saw him, leaning over the edge of his garden, looking at the cityscape. She thought about all the things she could say to him, something cool, something funny, but rather from a distance all, she was able to mutter out was.
"Hey" David whipped his head back to see the short girl. He hadn't expected for her to come up to him, especially with a smile like that on her face, so he masked his shock with a smile and a a calm front.
"Hey, I don't think we've met. I'm David" He said, putting his hand out to shake and she shook it.
"Frankie, I'm Jason's daughter," she said back and he nodded.
"Yeah I know, you're all he talks about now" David added and she rolled her eyes, putting her arms on the glass ledge, leaning on it the same way David did.
"Yeah well you seem to be all my father talks about too" Frankie pointed and David let out a snort.
"Yeah, I bet its all the crap I pull on him" David pointed out and Frankie rolled her eyes.
"Whenever you wax him are my favorites" the girl pointed out and David raised an eyebrow.
"You watch the vlogs?" He asked, shocked and she shrugged.
"How else am I supposed to keep tabs on my father that acts like he's my brother?" Frankie joked and it caused David to laugh, which only made Frankie laugh. David's laughter to her was nothing but contagious, so they stood there laughing at particularly nothing.
But from a distance, Jason stood there watching it all unfold. The way David would hesitantly put his hand on his daughter's shoulder to hold himself up if they were talking about something that made him laugh particularly hard or the way Frankie would push loose strands of hair back. It was flirting, in its truest and most modest form, at least that's how Jason saw it.
"I didn't think you'd be so similar and so different from the you in your vlogs" Frankie pointed out. David wasn't sure how long they spent hanging by the end of his backyard, but despite how time seemed to move so quickly when they spoke, it seemed like it was nearing a really late or early time.
"What is that supposed to mean?" David asked and Frankie shrugged.
"You aren't as like woah! Crazy! As you are in your videos" Frankie said, making big gestures which made David snort "but you are also a lot more humble then I thought you'd be, considering every girl that isn't a usual vlog squad member seems to wanna hook up with you" Frankie added, letting out a laugh and David felt his cheeks tint pink. Kelsey and Tana both expressed wanting to hook up with David, not that David found any interest in the situation. But the fact that Frankie, a girl so different from those two seemed to notice, made him rather embarrassed.
"You're one of the first people to say I'm humble" David pointed out and Frankie rolled her eyes.
"Maybe it's too soon to judge," she said, taking a sip of her soda that was now melted ice cubes. Before David could answer, Jason had cut the two of there conversation.
"Okay, we need to go," Jason said, putting his hand on his daughter's shoulder and she nodded without hesitation. Frankie was in secret, a huge daddy's girl. She looked up at her father and smiled, before looking back at David.
"Well, it was wonderful to meet you, David. I'm sure I'll see you around" She said before pulling David into a hug. David wasn't much of a hugger but feeling Frankie's arms wrapped around him, he didn't seem to mind it. He also didn't seem to mind the coconut scent that her hair had. He also didn't seem to mind the way Frankie squeezed him a little tighter before letting go.
"Yeah, you will" David added before watching Frankie walk away, hooking her arm to her fathers.
He walked into the living a minute after the Nashs left, trying to put together his thoughts.
"You were out there with Frankie a long time" Natalie pointed out as David walked passed her. Natalie had the chance to speak with Frankie when she came in and thought Frankie was every bit awesome as Matt and Zane hyped her up to be, and she wasn't shocked that David felt the same.
"Yeah, she has a really cool accent," David said, not really focused on what his assistant said to him.
All he could think about were the ways he could talk to Frankie again.
