She wasn't intentionally trying to sabotage their friendship. In fact, she had no knowledge about Will's massive crush on Mike. However, when Mike flew to California for spring break, she wanted him all to herself. He seemed to be perfectly fine with that. He loved her more than anyone — or so Will thought.
After El is brought to a top-secret location to regain her telekinetic powers, Mike is finally able to spend some time with Will. Her absence is enough to make him realize that she isn't the one he loves after all.

3. I am not shipping or sexualizing any of the Stranger Things cast members by writing this story. The characters they portray are completely fictional. This story is about Mike Wheeler and Will Byers, who don't actually exist. It is NOT about Finn Wolfhard and Noah Schnapp. Even so, there will be zero smut in this story because the characters are minors and I simply don't feel comfortable writing smut in the first place.
4. This story takes place in season four — more specifically, the California storyline. It's basically a rewrite of season four, so it'll feel like you're reading the show's script. However, it will also include plenty of original, made-up scenes. If you have not yet watched season four, I don't recommend reading this story quite yet. It will contain spoilers!
