A New Friend - North Dakota x Reader

First time you've met Agent North Dakota, North for short. The first impression he gave off was kind, it soon became into something much more: Team Dad.

North took care of just about everyone, rookies and everybody on the leaderboard and more importantly. You, Agent (S/N) who was one of the few freelancers still aboard of the ship despite you're low ranking on the board. It didn't seem to matter to North whether you were dead last or on the top, he considered everyone was skilled in their own quirky way.

That even included you, one of the many unpopular freelancers and with that said: you usually sit around on your ass all day, meanwhile the top agents were out doing top secret missions and that also meant no paycheck. It was boring on the Mother of Invention, up till you met North. Sweet guy.

"So what do you have in mind today, Theta?" North asked, you could practically hear the smile in his voice. 'North is just kind-hearted as ever' you thought, leaning up against the wall as you eyed the purple and green freelancer. Recently North had gotten an A.I even though it was a fragment, it was pretty cool and you couldn't help but wonder how a full A.I would be as it was something to think about in the middle of dead space.

"Huh, so Theta was it?" Your voice softened at the sound of the A.I's name, who was hiding behind North for comfort as the A.I seemed to be rather shy. "Yeah. Don't worry Theta, (S/N) won't bite." North joked while shifting in place, not enough to make Theta uncomfortable but to relax as he didn't plan on moving till Theta was completely comfortable around you. "North?" Asked the concerned A.I, still a bit unsure whether or not to come out of hiding or continue observing from afar.

"It's okay, I'm not going anywhere." He said in a gentle, fatherly tone. "Okay.." Still sounding unsure, though Theta seemed to really trust North so Theta had disappeared then reappeared much more closer to you, it surprised you but you quickly relaxed as the bright vibrate colors that the A.I gave off. It was quite relaxing, like the sun even as Theta gave off a nice warm aura even as an A.I.

"Hey Theta, I'm (S/N)." You've greeted the A.I in a gentle tone, the A.I nodded in acknowledgement. "So you're an agent like North? Why don't you have an A.I?" Theta asked curiously, shaking your head. "I don't have one because only the best Freelancers can get their own A.I's, you've got to work real hard and earn the privilege."

That made Theta more curious, "You don't work hard?" "I do, I'm getting there as it's been hard finding any jobs to go on lately." you admitted with a sigh. "You're having trouble finding work?" North asked, as the taller agent took a step forward towards you.

"Yeah, I probably will be kicked out soon if this keeps up." Frowning at the thought of leaving, though it might be best. "Hey, don't think like that. I'll help you out with training, maybe even put a good word in for you to help send some good paying jobs for you." North suggested as Theta looked between the two agents, your eyes lit up.

"Really, you'd do that?" You grinned and North nodded, looking at Theta in awe. "Yeah, I wouldn't want Theta to lose a new friend he just met, now would we?" "No." Theta responded a his colors brightened in excitement, "—So we'll get to see (S/N) everyday now? Training and all."

Seeing Theta and North everyday, it did sound nice. "Yeah, we will." North confirmed and a warm feeling washed over you, "Yup." you agreed and the A.I jumped in place. "So (S/N), should we start training now or?" "Yeah, yeah let's go." North couldn't help but smile in his helmet, as you lead the way to the training arena.
