(A/N): Requested by kyradavies. I've actually had the idea of a Guard × Prisoner AU for a long time, but as I was trying *cough* TRYING AND FAILING *cough* to fall asleep it hit me - a GakuRyuu Guard × Prisoner AU. The AU was always going to be angst and by the way, someone's gonna die. Also Sousuke's here! Somewhere! (He's going to be MY version of Sousuke though, which is probably different from canon Sousuke) And Tenn also appears.

Gaku huffed. Seriously, who posts a guard at an empty cell?

His father, apparently.

His father ran this prison, and from an early age he'd trained Gaku in all sorts of fighting. Since he was eventually - emphasis on eventually - going to take the prison over someday, he'd have to go through the whole guard rank-up thing first. But seriously, couldn't he have been at least posted at a more interesting cell?!

And this was their highest security cell too. Fifteen stories below ground, and the only cell on the level. Cameras from every angle, and triple layers of bars over everything so you couldn't even wedge a finger through. To escape, you'd have to disable the cameras, somehow knock out the guard - which, was currently Gaku - steal the keys, unlock yourself, and go up fifteen flights of stone stairs. The corridors echoed, so they'd hear you coming miles away, and of course the other prisoners would work up a racket too.

And, of course, it had to be the most luxurious cell.

The whole floor was basically the cell. Against one wall were the stairs, and for about five meters there was nothing but a chair and a small table, plus a mini-fridge against another wall and a roll-up futon and one electrical outlet. And a bathroom. Then were the iron bars, which was where the cell actually started.

For one, there was a a bathroom. A bathroom. With a flushing, working toilet and a sink with running water and a tiled shower and soap. Not a mirror, of course, since the prisoner could break it and use the shards as a weapon. But a bathroom. Every other prisoner got a metal bucket that was emptied out periodically and about three seconds' worth of water. And no shower or soap. Soap.

And a gym. A motherfucking gym. With exercise equipment. Gaku didn't see why there was exercise equipment in the cell if a prisoner could use it as a weapon, but hey, he didn't design this cell. Some other ass did.

And a bedroom. Like, holy shit, a bedroom. With a matress and sheets and pillows and blankets. And a nightstand and a lamp - which could also be used as a weapon - and a stack of books and a plastic vase of dried flowers. Books and flowers. Everyone else had a lumpy folded piece of cloth for a matress and thin scratchy blankets. And Gaku got a  roll-up futon.

There wasn't a prisoner now, but they'd be living the life.

Footsteps suddenly echoed down. Gaku raised an eyebrow. Speak of the devil, he thought as four guards came down with a unconscious man.

"New prisoner," One of the escorting guards said gruffly, shoving the man at Gaku. "Take care of 'im." He sneered, tromping up stairs. Probably thought that Gaku got special privileges as the son of the director. Well, he didn't.

Gaku caught the unconscious man and inspected him. Not many people were taller than him, but this new prisoner was. Brown hair and tan skin, wearing tattered clothes and no shoes. There was a soft, sleeping expression on his face. Gaku didn't know what could have gotten such a harmless looking guy into their highest security cell, but he followed protocol.
