When he was first captured, he was right next door to a girl named Charlotte. They would talk through s big hole on the wall covered by a painting. Charlotte was a great help to Vine during his first three years of captivity. Until the man got tired of her, as she was 23 as was now to old for his taste, and Vine was forced to watch him kill her, which worsened his mental state considerably. When Vine finally made it out, the first doll he ever made out of porcelain was made to look like her, and was even named Charlotte. He is seen almost everywhere with it, and it comforts him.
