They say when you're dying, you life flashes before your eyes.
You weren't sure whether or not that was true, not until no. As you watched every moment from your life play out like a silent film. All the good, the bad, happy, angry, sad, everything.
You stood there watching your life play out before your eyes. You were so glued to the cinema of your life, you weren't aware someone walking behind you, or that they stopped.
"I didn't think I'd see you here so soon." A familiar voice chuckled.
Spinning around, you came face to face with the man who practically raised you along with your brother. Throwing your arms around him you cried in joy.
"SHIRO!"
Shiro chuckled and hugged you gently.
"Hey squirt, you've grown."
"Not much." You sighed.
"More than you think. I've been keeping an eye on you, and the boys.'
Pulling away, you noticed the scene had changed, now you were stood in just a pure white room.
"They've both grown so much Shiro, they get better and better."
"I know, and I'm proud of them. But we're here because of you." He flicked your head.
"Ouch Shiro!"
Pouting you rubbed the sore spot. You playfully glared at him.
"What about me?"
Shiro rolled his eyes and crossed his arms in a father like way.
"Why are you here kiddo?"
Sighing, you lowered your hand and turned your gaze to the floor. You clenched your fists a little, tail wrapping around your leg.
"I.. I died.. protecting the people I care about.."
"You're way to young to be here (Y/N), you're only 26."
You shrugged and lifted your eyes to meet his sad gaze.
"I had to Shiro..."
"I know, but at what cost? You threw away your whole life. It's all good and well being a hero, but what's the point if you're just going to die?"
"It's about protecting those you care about, and those who can't protect themselves. And I did that, I don't regret it. I'd do it all over again!"
Shiro smiled at this and shook his head with a little laugh.
"I know you don't. I'm so proud of you (Y/N), you've come so far."
Shiro reached out, his hand making its way around your head and hand held it still as he pressed his forehead to yours. You closed your eyes and and clutched his coat.
"It's not your time yet, you've got another chance."
"I... I do?"
"Yeah, you do."
"What if I don't want to go back Shiro...?"
"I know you want to go back. Who'll look after Yukio and Rin for me? You've got all those teens waiting for you to wake up, 4 brothers who pray for you to wake up, three friends who visit you everyday."
"I don't want to be alone Shiro..." your voice cracked.
"But you aren't alone, just open your eyes and look around carefully. You are far from alone, even if you feel it."
You nodded a little and sniffled.
"Don't cry, you're okay." Shiro sighed.
He pulled you into a hug and rested his chin on your head as you sobbed into his chest.
"I miss you Shiro!"
He didn't say anything, he just kept a tight hold on you. That action alone comforted you more than any words could.
"Go on now, go live your life."
Shiro pulled away, and took a step back with a soft smile.
"I'll be right here waiting for you, Okay?"
"Okay." You nodded.
Turning around, you hesitated. Spinning back around, you ran back and threw your arms around his neck, tears steaming down your face as you held him.
"I love you Dad!"
Shiro chuckled and held you once more.
"I love you too kiddo, now go on, before you make me cry."
Laughing, you nodded and let go, wiping your face. You turned around, and started walking, your steps echoing through the silence. The closer the got to the door, the harder it became.
Once your hand hovered over the handle, you turned your head to look back once more. You burned the image of Shiro into your head, you wanted to remember his kind smile, and everything about he man who had become your father, you didn't want to forget him.
"It's alright." He smiled.
Taking a breath, you nodded and smiled back. Slowly, you opened the door and the whole world went black
