KENZIES POV

"soooo what movie are we watching" lauren asks popping a piece of popcorn into her mouth

"how about wizard of oz that's a classic, oooo or marry poppins" i suggest

"kenzie we are not eighty years old. let's watch something disney. i love disney."

"i'm aware lauren it's not like i haven't know you since we were 3 years old" i roll my eyes at her and continue searching the movie selection while my mind wanders.

it wanders to the boy only a few doors down and for some reason i just couldn't shake it. i didn't like him. or at least i didn't think i liked him. we were flirting that's all. but with all of that he was still all i thought about.

"hello earth to kenzie" lauren waves her hand in front of my face and snaps me back to reality

"oh sorry yes whats up" i reply scratching the back of my neck

"i picked a movie. how do you feel about the lion king?" she asks flaunting the dvd off to me posing like a model with the disc. i nod my head vigorously and make my way out of lauren's room and into her tv room.

before either of us could take a step out of the door a dirty blonde haired boy bursts through the room with a smirk on his face.

"did someone say lion king? because if so i'm watching too. no exceptions" he says crossing his arms

"no way rat get out of here" lauren yells as she tries to push past him.

"please choppy you know how much i love the lion king" he begs "yea so what? you know how much i don't like you and i don't want to see your ratchet looking face while watching a moving with my best friend" she fired back at him as he jokingly place a hand over his heart

"come on just let me watch" he pleads again leaving her to roll her eyes and nod "ok ok fine" she says in annoyed tone

"yessss" he cheers grabbing the popcorn out of my hands and sprinting down the staircase

"hey give that back!" i scream at him chasing him all the way across the house into the movie room

"make your own!" i yell again at the in-cooperative boy in front of me

he just sticks his tongue out and plops down in the empty space on the couch right next to me while lauren presses play.

it was 40 minutes into the movie and lauren was dead asleep softly snoring.

"i'm gonna go bring her to her bed" johnny whispers in my ear "i'll be back. don't miss me too much" he jokes grabbing his sister and slowly carrying her up the stairs into her bed room.

after about 5 minutes he returned to his spot right next to me, only this time, he was much closer. we were touching thighs as he slowly crept his hand into mine.

i look down at our two intertwined fingers ,then up at him, and smiled sweetly before averting my gaze back to the movie.

NARRATOR POV

kenzies eyes flutter open as she takes in her surroundings to find that she was not in lauren's room. but in her tv room laying her head in johnnys lap and he peacefully slept.

she stared at his beautiful sleeping face for a long time before snapping out of it and slowly moving out of his grasp.

unfortunately she wasn't fast or quiet enough and he abruptly awoke in a a panic.

he looked around a little and when his eyes landed on the girl and he smiled a wide goofy smile.

"morning" he croaks groggily rubbing his eyes

"good morning to you too" she chuckles back at him "now i got to go before lauren wakes up but i'll see ya kay?" she smiles at him grabbing her sweatshirt

"wait no" he whines stopping her "i'm better than lauren stay here" he pleads while mackenzie just laughs and rolls her eyes

"bye vincent" she says running upstairs

"hey! don't call me that!" he shouts back at her while she laughs.

mackenzie walks into her best friends room to find her sitting on her bed with crossed arms.

"now where were you last night missy" lauren interrogates the girl.

"i uh i fell asleep" mackenzie says nervously scratching the back of her neck

"and where was my dear brother during this?" lauren continues the interrogation

"he uh fell asleep too" mackenzie says nervously "look lo nothing happened at all we just fell asleep. that's all." kenzie says reassuringly

"i believe you but kenz" "mhm" "do you like him? because it kinda seems like you do and he seems like he likes you too and that's super cute but i swear if he hurts you i will kill him in his sl-" she rants

"slow down lauren." she says calming her best friend down

"look yea i like him but i know he will never like me back so i'm keeping my distance. so i don't get hurt"

"you never know kenz i feel like he likes you. i mean you guys are always texting, he totally flirts with you, and he got upset when you wouldn't talk to him at school. if those aren't signs he likes you idk what are." lauren says smiling

"yea maybe but for now, i'm keeping my distance" "smart girl"
