NARRATOR POV
the two drive home in a comfortable silence, sniffles escaping kenzies mouth every once in a while.
"hey." johnny said grabbing mackenzies hand "it's gonna be ok my love" he whispers
"n-no john it's not!" she whimpered "my mom left, my dad died, and just when i needed her the most maddie decided she's gonna pick up and move across the country with her boyfriend. i have nobody john! i'm all alone" mackenzie finishes her voice breaking
"that's not true bubbas. you have me and you always will. im not planning on leaving you anytime soon" he says sniping the tears off her cheeks with his thumb
"god johnny orlando what did i do to deserve you" the girl says tears falling from her eyes. but this time the tears weren't sad anymore they were content. because she knew that her dad wasn't suffering anymore and that she had a boyfriend that loved her unconditionally and best friends that were waiting to give her a big hug at home.
"it's more like what did i do to deserve YOU." the boy smiles but an emphasis on the word you
"how did you know about my dad anyways? because i know for a fact me and maddie were to busy crying to call you" she says slightly laughing in attempt to lighten the mood
"phillip called me. he must've remembered me from the day i came to visit your dad with you and gotten my number somehow" he says smiling at the girl
"well i'm glad he did because you were the only person in the world i really wanted to see right then. so thank you j for always being there for me"
"always" he whispers and with that he pulls into the driveway of the orlando residence and mackenzie is bombarded with hugs by her three best friends
"oh my god kenzie boo i'm so sorry" lauren says tears in her eyes
"we love you so much and we are hear for you forever don't forget that" annie adds
"thanks guys it really means a lot but i don't want to be sad and mopey. my dad would've wanted me to celebrate his life in happiness not tears so i really just need a good distraction." she says smiling
annie, brynn, and lauren and look at eachother suspiciously before turning their heads back to their best friend then to john, who was just as confused as mackenzie
she looked at him laughing and he just shrugged his shoulders and raised an eyebrow
"come with us" annie says pulling the couple into the house
"so you need a distraction you say?" brynn laughs
"ok cut the shit what the hell is going on" johnny says grasping my hand
"ok so we were planning this thing with a few of johnnys friends and it was gonna be a surprise for u two but this was before well ya know, so we were going to cancel it but if you want a distraction, this might be the perfect way-" lauren rambles
"oh just spit it out what are we doing"
"we're going to cabo" brynn says a huge smile plastered to our face as kenzie and johnny stare at eachother in amusement
"ha ha very funny" johnny mocks causing brynn's smile to drop
"i'm not kidding hayden's mom is running some event over there and she said we could go for a whole week if we help her pass our waters and fruit on the day of the fundraiser" brynn says the smile returning to her face
"wait your not kidding?" mackenzie asks in shock
"nope" lauren replies popping the p "but we leave in a few hours so you might want to get packed hayden's gonna pick us all up here at 5:00 pm"
"ok that's all great but what about school" johnny asks
"what about it" annie giggles then runs upstairs
"we have a three week break due to all the fires remember doofus" lauren informs her brother giving him a noogie then following annie upstairs with brynn trailing right behind her
john and mackenzie look at eachother with a what the fuck glare but quickly shrug it off and head upstairs with the others.
after helping johnny pack all his things mackenzie helps carry his backpack downstairs waiting for him to haul his luggage down so that they could then go to her house, so she could get her clothes.
"ready princess" he says guiding her out to the car and pulling out of the driveway swiftly driving towards the direction of mackenzies house
"are you absolutely positive you wanna go bubbas because you don't have to everyone will understand and i can stay here with you-" john ramble only to be cut off my a laughing mackenzie
"i'm sure john, this will be good" she smiles at him grasping his hand
sofie speaks
this chapter kinda sucks
