LAURENS POV

i laugh at my stupids friends and slip my phone into my bag. i walk into my closet and grab a coat before taking one last look in the mirror and heading downstairs.

i was met by my idiot brother and his idiot friends sitting in a circle locker boxing.

i roll my eyes at the group then slide my shoes on a make my way to slip out the door when i hear johnnys raspy voice call out to me

"choppy! wanna join?" he jokes

i turn around swiftly on my heel and stare deep into his green eyes "no" i deadpan "i have plans"

"with who?" he questions hopping up from the circle leaving the boys

"none of your business you hoe" i fire back at him and he places a hand over his heart

"wow and to think i'm just looking out for my baby sister being an amazing older brother" he jokes stroking my hair

i slap his hand away and stick my tongue out at him "your older by like 20 seconds you doofus and for you information, not like i was obligated to tell you or anything but i'm going out with kenzie and the girls. i'll be back in a few see ya" i wave to my brother and open the door , walking outside, and attempting to close it behind me

before i can do so johnnys foot is stopping me and i look at him annoyingly

"what do you want now dummy" i ask very aggravated that he is keeping my friends waiting

"uh- i why don't you just invite them over here" he suggest nervously scratching the back of his neck

i get a mischievous look on my face and punch his arm

"listen man hoe i get you wanna see kenzie but i was friends with her long before you even acknowledged her existence. i'm
going to hangout with my best friend without my brother butting in. now that we are on the topic, you hurt that innocent, shy, kind-hearted, amazing girl and you will regret that you ever roamed this earth." i say sternly walking to my car leaving him speechless

it was a rainy saturday afternoon and i was sitting on my bed finishing my ap bio homework when my phone dinged loudly.

john:
hey
i'm bored
can we hangout

kenzie:
uggg i wish
i have ap bio hw
mrs. willkens is up my ass about my missing assignment

john:
kenz
you and i both know
that you finished that assignment already
and your just doing extra homework
because that's just the kinda girl you are

kenzie:
i wanna get ahead
and i have a free day so

john:
it's not free anymore
your hanging out with me

i set my phone down and focus back up on my homework sad that i turned down hanging out with johnny.

i wanted to i really did but i just couldn't, i needed to do the extra credit.

i sat in my bed for the next thirty minutes trying to complete the worksheet in front of me and failing.

every time i looked down my mind went blank and i couldn't think about anything.

i constantly found myself staring at the large droplets of rain falling from the window. or the shiny roads that glistened from the small stream of sunlight hitting the perfect spots in the puddles.

i was snapped out of my trance by a knock and my bed room door. without even looking away from the window i yell "come in" and hear as the door opens

"sup mack z" i hear maddie say and i roll my eyes still not breaking the gaze i shared with the water

"earth to boo bear, anyways someones here to see you" she says smiling and waltzing out of my room

i hear the door close and i let go of the breath i didn't know i was holding. suddenly the door opens right back up and i hear a set of heavier footsteps approach my bed

"boo bear? seriously?" i hear a familiar blonde joke and i finally look up from the window

"that's my sister for you she's got a new nickname for me everyday" i say back laughing along

"anyways what are you doing here i thought i told you i was busy" i scold the cute boy standing at the foot of my bed

"yea i know but it's saturday and raining. it's my favorite type of day and ur wasting it doing homework. so i'm here to give you a brain break" he smiles proudly at me and i pat the bed next to me ushering for him to sit. he does so and i laugh as he sighs in content with the softness of my covers

"ok then mister what are we doing" i ask him which causes a large smirk to creep across his face

"glad you asked" he said whipping out a large bag filled to the brim with a variety of things

"we are going to make a fort" he says in satisfaction

i let out a large squeal and shove my homework into the floor

"are you kididng?!" i ask in excitement and he chuckles at me

"your too cute princess." he says causing me to blush "and no i am not. now let's getting moving"

got some real cute shit planned for the next couple of chapters but i'm trying not to rush the plot. in my previous books i sort of rushed to the climax and ending but i want this book to be meaningful and i want jenzies relationship to build before everything happens.
