Daan POV
The week flew by, I started to practice again and me and Beth just ignored eachother. I woke up after a long sleep and walked downstairs;
L: "MATCHDAY BABY!"
D: "Dear god, I'm awake for 5 minutes and I've a screaming Lisa Evans in my kitchen. What has my life become?" Lisa tackled me onto the couch and Viv had to break us apart.
V: "You children, will you ever grow up?!"
L: "No probably not, but at least it suits Daan her height" I gave her a soft punch and laughed.
V: "Tsss"
I walked over to the fridge and made myself a healthy breakfast, I calmly started eating.
L: "You do know that you need to hurry up right?"
D: "No I don't have to- OMG IT'S ALREADY 11.14. WHY ON EARTH DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP?!"
V: "Calm the fuck down, you still have 15 minutes."
D: "I still have to fix my hair."
L: "Well hurry up than!"
I ran with my selfmade sandwich in my hand upstairs. -Okay Daan relax, you just need some comfortable clothes cuz you're going to change at the club anyways.-
I quickly grabbed a jeans and a Calvin Klein sweater and changed into them. I ran to the mirror -oh dear god what on earth happened to my hair?!!- I grabbed the hair straightener and some hair oil and I started to fix it. When I was done it was still looking awful but I didn't have the time to fix it any further. I made a ponytail and ran downstairs "I'm ready!" Lisa nodded "Let's go"
In the car I was just thinking some things trough, the starting XI were me, Miedema, Evans, Roord, Mccabe, Nobbs, Williamson, Beattie, Mitchell, Quinn and Zinsberger. Beth wasn't selected, I don't know why, because she's an excellent player. It wouldn't have something to do with our fight now does it? I dunno, we'll find out at the club. But when we arrived, nothing was said about it. We changed into our pre-game gear and went onto the field. The crowd was pretty big this time and I saw some dutchies standing over there. I've seen them multiple times now, it's so sweet how they fly all the way here just to see us play.
The game against Brighton started, it went well and in the 13th minute Viv scored. After that there weren't any big chances until Mccabe made a crossball towards me in the 44th minute. I was standing right in front of the goal and made a header, it went in. I ran towards Katie and the rest followed, so glad that I got to score in the first game and show the team that I still have it in me. After that the first half ended and we headed to the dressing room. Joe said a few encouraging words and after that said "Beth you will start instead of Daan." -Wait What?! I actually played a really good game, why did he pull me out of it?! Maybe it has something to do with the fight between me and Beff...-
The only thing I did was nod and looked straight forward at the wall without looking at Beth.
After the game, that we won with 3-0( Evans scored) we headed to the showers. Some of the girls suggested to get a cup of coffee. "I'm tired, I think I'm gonna head home" I said. Lisa said that she would join me and the rest went to get a cup of coffee. Lisa and I drove home and I looked at her
D: "Did you guys talk with Joe about the fight me and Mead had?" Lisa went quiet "Lisa, please answer me."
L: "Viv and Joe did, she suggested not to put you and Mead on the field together. Just for the first game."
D: "Well jeez thanks, I actually played a really good game and just because some stupid agreement I didn't get to play the full 90 minutes."
L: "I know, I don't think Joe liked doing it but he also wanted to play Beth and give her an opportunity."
D: "I know, but it still sucks."
L: "You and Beth really have to start getting along with each other, because it will cost us points in the competition."
D: "I'll talk to her this week."
L : "You better will, because we have to play some good opponents these upcoming weeks."
At home I just went to take a nap and I woke up about an hour later. Viv was already home and I decided to call Beth. While being extremely nervous, I typed in her number. She answered:
B: "Hai"
D: Hey, I was just wondering if we could maybe grab lunch tomorrow. I really wanna sort things out for the sake of the team."
B: "Sure, where do we meet."
D: "I know a place it's called The Lunchroom, shall we meet there at 12:30?"
B: "alright, see you there"
She hang up.
The next morning I was standing in front of my closet and again had no idea what to wear. "LISAAA" She came running into the room "What is it?" "I have no idea what to wear to the lunch." As always Lisa knew exactly what I had to wear "How am I ever gonna survive without a Lisa Evans in my life?" She laughed "Oh stop it, you're making me blush." I hugged her and headed to my car. It was 12:13 and it was a 10 minute drive, I was a bit early so I decided to just wait in the car for a little while and check my social media. After a while I started the car and started driving.
When I arrived Beth was parking her car and after we both got out we went out inside. The waiter led us to our table and took our jackets. We ordered our lunch and to break the silence, I started talking;
D: "So how is it staying at Leah's?"
B: "Well, I sleep in Jill her room, it's nice. Not as nice as yours ofcourse."
We started laughing and had a conversation about all kind of stuff, it wasn't akward at all. After a while I realized I had to bring up what happened last week;
D: "Beff, about last week. I know I was wrong and I'm not expecting you to forgive me in any kind of way but I just hope we can move on and just be friends, on and off the field."
B: "For now we're good and I think we just have to keep it light and breezy. You can do whatever you want with who you want, we're just here for each other."
D: "Right."
B: "Right."
-Light and breezy, dear god this is gonna be so hard. Just the way she says it already, it's so damn attractive.-
