Macy walks out the woods and onto the Derry streets. " Does everyone know where they're heading? " Mike asked, looking at the losers, with his location already in mind. The adults all nod their heads nervously, each knowing exactly where they're going.
Now walking alone through the streets of Derry, Macy knew where she had to go. She had to go to the same place she had spent the majority of that summer in, especially after the losers club broke up.
Her old house
A place she hadn't been to or even thought about since she left Derry all those years ago. Yet, she knew if there was any place her artifact would be, it would be there. She watched as large groups of people began to flock to the festival. But as she got closer and closer to her house, her nerves grew more and more. Before she knew it, Macy was standing in front of the now-abandoned house. She notices the front door was opened as if the house was inviting her in.
The woman's hands begin to shake as she starts walking towards the steps of the house. Yet she stops dead in her tracks to look at the now worn down backyard of the house. Her eyes glued to the small pool and swing step that still sat unused in her backyard. While looking at the two items Macy remembers a horrible memory she thought she had repressed for good.
A young Macy hears a soft tap on her bedroom window, causing her to look up from the book she was reading. Macy believed she was just hearing things, until she heard the tap again. Knowing she had nothing to lose, Macy got up from her bed. Looking out the crack of her door, Macy sighs in relief as she notices her mother sitting on the dining room table, waiting for a call from The Derry Police Department. Knowing she's in the clear, Macy walks towards her window. Lifting l up her curtains, a smile growing on her face at the sight she was met with.
It was Mike.
The teenage boy was smiling back at her, having come to visit her after his final delivery of the day. Macy suddenly remembered her mother, and how she would kill Macy if she saw Mike. Her face fell, startling the boy as she opened the window. " Mike, what are you doing here? " She questioned, looking at the boy who was still beaming at her. It had been about a week since the losers club had split up, but it had also been a week since Mike and Macy shared their first kiss.
" I came to see you. I can't stay too long but I just really wanted to see you. " He explained in a nervous tone. A smile grew back on Macy's face. " Really? " She asked, her smile growing wider as he nodded his head. He had come to see her, not because he had had to, or was told to, but because he wanted to.
Macy looks down at the boy, placing her two hands on each side of his face before leaning down to plant a kiss onto his soft lips. Mike kisses back immediately, smiling into the kiss as she wraps his hands around Macy's wrists, holding them tightly. The two pull away from the kiss but still keep their hands on each other. " I'm so glad you came ." She states, still looking into his brown eyes, smiling as he pressed his forehead against hers.
The two suddenly detach from each other at the sound of Macy's name being called from the other room. " Yeah mom? " Macy replied, pressing her finger against her lips, insinuating for Mike to be as quiet as he could. " Who are you talking to? " Her mother asked, as her footsteps got closer. Macy watches Mike crouch down under the window. Mrs.Ripsom walks into the room with dark circles under her eyes, as she looks around Macy's room. " What? No one, I was about to go outside. " Macy lied as she closed the window, walking past her mother before grabbing her shoes.
" If I find out any of your friends are visiting you, you'll be in even more trouble! " Mrs.Ripsom exclaims as Macy begins walking to the door. " Mother, I'm not Rapunzel. " Macy rolled her eyes at what her mother had just said, shaking her head at the similarities between her current situation and the children's story. " Yeah, but you lied to me and I will not stand for that! You know what, just go in the backyard, I'm tired of dealing with you. " Mrs.Ripsom added, shaking her head in disbelief as Macy closed the front door loudly.
