Kara's POV

I tightened my grasp on my adoptive sister before shooting into the sky, and up towards the clouds. As I flew upwards I heard Alex yell "Whoo Hoo!" into the wind. "Isn't it great?" I asked with a small giggle "Are you kidding me? It's amazing!" "Well savor it, Alex, cause I don't think Eliza is gonna let us do this ever again."

I kept a steady speed as I flew straight forward through the wind, enjoying the peaceful feeling. I used my x-ray vision to find out how far away we were, and I could see our school in the distance. "Alex!" "Yeah?" "I'm gonna land in those bushes over there! Hang on tight!" "Okay, I'm ready."

I made sure there was no one nearby before I began flying towards the ground. I landed softly in some bushes a couple minutes from our school, gently freeing Alex from my grasp. I handed Alex her bag, and we both straightened out our clothes and hair. I got my glasses out and put them on, then both us emerged from the bushes.

Alex immediately began walking in the direction of the school, and I ran to catch up, beginning to walk next to her. I noticed her side-eye me as she said "What are you doing?" an annoyed tone in her voice" U-um... I'm j-just walking with you." I stuttered, confused about what I did. "Just because I let you fly me, doesn't we are all of a sudden BFF's. Walk by yourself, if I'm seen with you, people will think I like you." Alex snapped before walking away from me.

I just sighed as I slowed down my walking. I lifted my sleeve and began tracing the burn marks on my arm like I always did when I felt lonely. I was so scared, I didn't know anyone at this school, and I had to make it alone. Worst part, I bet Alex told her friends awful things about me last year.

I heard the sound of footsteps and chatter getting louder, as I lifted my head and saw many groups of teenagers walking into the large building that said Midvale High School in big capital letters across the top. Eliza had told me to go to the office first thing so I could get my locker number and student ID. I walked into the building through a set of double doors and immediately noticed a door to my left that read Front Office.

I went inside and got everything I needed from the secretary, including my student ID and student ID number, locker number and locker combo, and a general idea of where to find all of my classrooms. I found my locker and began placing all of my stuff inside when I heard the bell ring.

I pulled out my phone which had my school schedule on it and checked it, I had P.E 1st period, World History 2nd Period, and AP Calculus 3rd Period, then lunch.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I made it through my first three classes without much trouble, except I was given a seat right in front of Alex for history, and she kept making fun of me for not understanding anything. In P.E. we did rope climbing on a timer, and the teacher was extremely impressed with both my speed and strength. So were a lot of other kids. Calculus was fun and easy. I finished all of the homework and classwork during class. Then, it was lunch.

Eliza gave me money to buy food because apparently school lunch isn't free. I followed a bunch of other kids to the lunchroom since I didn't know where it was, and then I waited in line to get food. As I was getting my food, I was having trouble deciding what to get when I heard behind me "Hey orphan girl! You're holding up the line!" I turned around and saw a bunch of girls sitting at a table together, one of them being Alex, and one of them shooting daggers into my head.

"S- sorry." I stuttered before grabbing some random food item without even looking at what it was, and paying for it. I walked out of the lunchroom as fast as I could and went to my locker. I knew it. I knew Alex's friends were gonna be mean to me. What did I ever do to make Alex hate me so much?
