Chapter 12: Magic Gone Wrong

"Hey Cupid, sorry about Raven," Dexter said smiling oddly.

"No, it's not your fault Dex, I understand. I know what it's like to be jealous. When you kissed Raven, it shattered my heart," she said.

"Maddie," I whispered.

Maddie popped out her head through the wall.

"Yes?" she said merrily as always.

"I can't believe I lost Dexter, Maddie I... I..."

"You love him don't you?" she said concerned.

I sighed.  I used my magic to pluck the petals off a nearby daisy that was near Holly's dorm.

"Yes, I do love him."

"Raven, love a strong word," Maddie said.

"Ugh I know but, I mean it, and if I can't have Dex then no one can!" I yelled.

I waved my finger as I eyed Dexter. I chanted a love spell to make Dexter fall in love with me. He put his hands over his chest as if struck by one of Cupid's arrows.

"Oh Cupid, you are so beautiful, be mine... please!" Dexter said as he was hypnotized.

I gasped as I saw Cupid smiling and holding his hand.

"No! My magic! It failed! AGAIN!!!" I yelled.

The nearby daisy wilted as my anger grew stronger.

"Now Raven, please... look! Let's dance!" Maddie said nervously. She started to dance like a mad person.

"Not helping," I said, my teeth clenched.

"Oh Dex, I love you," Cupid said.

"Oh Cupid, I love you more."

"No I love you more."

"Cupid, I love you the most."

"No Dex I-"

"We get it already! Sheesh! Don't rub it in!" I yelled.

"Raven, aren't you jelly?!" Dexter said.

"Of course I am! Dexter I love you with all my heart and now because of me, you're stuck with her," I said tearing up. I felt a huge lump in my throat.

"Too bad," he said.

He left with Cupid. My heart had been broken way too many times.

"There has to be a way," I said to Maddie.

"Hmmm, Hey! Maybe Giles Grimm could help us!" Maddie said as she jumped up and down.

I snapped my fingers. "Yes! He must have some sort of cure for this," I said with a spark.

And so, we ran all the way down to Giles' place and knocked the 'Super Secret Door Knock' to enter.

"Friends!" he yelled.

"Hello Giles," Maddie said as she rushed to hug him.

"Hi um, I was wondering if you might have some sort of cure for a love spell," I asked.

He thought for a while, and then he smiled. "Why yes but it only lasts until 7:00 p.m.," he said. At least Maddie didn't have to translate, since his babbling curse was broken.

"Wicked Awesome!" I yelled.

He gave me a dusty old book with the title: Love Spells. He flipped to the chapter that read: CHAPTER 19: THE CURE FOR A LOVE SPELL. The page had a map on it.

"Follow this map, and there you will know what to do."

"Thanks."

We left as I looked at the map.

"Ugh, the Dark Forest."
