Chapter: 9 Lose Lips

"Jesus!" Katharine said through her exasperated breath, she had been pedaling behind Lucas for fifteen minutes now and the only reason why she hadn't lost them was the fire-red hair flowing in the wind behind Lucas Bike. Lucas finally swiveled into a large junkyard stopping in front of a largely abandoned bus giving Kat the opportunity to catch up. She stops behind a few shrubs and watched closely as Max and Lucas banged on the bus door to reveal Dustin and Steve.

"T-these tw-o a-assholes." Katherine barely huffed as she slowly rode towards the bunch.

"What the hell is she doing here!" Steve said, causing the 3 kids to turn there heads towards a barely breathing Katherine.

"I-i could ask t-the same thing." Kat replied still huffing in between words, her eyes darted towards her brother giving him a serious deadly look. Dustin raised his hands quickly into the air looking over at her.

"I'll tell you anything you want to know just don't kill me!" He spilled instantly, Steve and Dustin exchanged glares before glancing back at kat.

"You fucking idiot how could you be so reckless!" Anger slipped into Katherine's words as she looked at her brother.

"What if that thing killed you Dustin, what if  mews hadn't been in the room that day and you were sleeping!" She continued.

"Dart wouldn't do that... Kat, I'm sorr-" Dustin began but Kat cut him off pulling him into a hug squeezing him tightly.

"Please, Dustin i don't know what i would have done if something happened to you." Her voice slightly breaking as she squeezed him a little tighter before letting him go. Dustin backed away slightly looking up at her, he nodded a little before entirely pulling away from her.

"How did you follow me?" Lucas asked still confused, but before she could open her mouth Max answered for her.

"She was in Billy's room when you knocked." Steve's and Dustin's heads snapped up towards Katherine.

"What the hell were you doing in his room?" Dustin and Steve said in unison, Katherine looked over at Max wishing she hadn't spoken a word.

"Don't you guys have much more important things to do than ask me a bunch of questions, the sun goes down in an hour. " Kat scoffed trying to look everywhere else but at Steve.

"She's right we have work to do guys." Max chimed in, a small sigh left Dustin but he looked up at Steve and Lucas. They all nodded at one another and split up not saying another word.

"Thanks, Max." Kat smiled, Max exchanged a small smirk before walking away as well. Katherine walked around the junkyard looking for parts to cover the bus with, as she searched in a pile of old wood she found a rusted crowbar that she could use as her weapon.

"Ok everyone on the bus now, we only have a couple more minutes till dark. " Steve said while guiding everyone inside the bus. Kat was the last one in, but Steve grab ahold of her arm stopping her before she could enter.

"Can we talk?" He whispered trying his best for the kids inside not to hear, Katherine looked over at him for a moment before shaking away his grip and continuing onto the bus not answering his question.

"I'll take the first watch guys." Kat smiled looking at Dustin before climbing on top of the bus.

"Can i come too?" Lucas asked peering his head from the top of the ladder, she smiled gesturing next to her. A few minutes had passed and Maxed joined them.

"So, you believe all this stuff too?" The redhead asked looking up at Kat.

"I don't believe in it i know it's real, i saw it all happen and lived through it. " kat looked down as the memory of it all flashed through her head.
