Needless to say going down to the station didn't really do me any good, I basically sat there and watched Charlie and a bunch of middle aged men hover over topographical maps and the reports the station had been collecting since the first of the year trying to find the best way for them to search when daylight came in the days to follow.

Charlie and I pick up a pizza on the way home from the station because we're too tired to function. He too tired from having to orchestrate a search party for a pack of wolves that could easily kill him and I too tired from the mental acrobats that was going on all whilst they made their plans. I was more worried about why my friends and family was acting weird and why Forks seems like something out of a science fiction novel with killer wolves and weird ice cold families that move in and out of town. We bring the pizza out to the living room and watch the Redskins game, yelling at the running back as Bella hauntingly walks into the room, dripping wet. Charlie's musical laugh from my screaming falters when he sees the pain and lifelessness that's returned to his daughter's eyes. I hop up off the couch, taking the blanket off the back of the couch and wrap her in it. Charlie mutes the television, setting the remote on the arm of his chair, "Billy called, said you and Jacob had a fight. But, hey, you guys will work it out, I'm sure of it."

I knew exactly why Bella needed to see Jake, wanting to know the answer myself. And without my verbally asking the question we've been wanting answered for over a week, Bella looks at me and solemnly shook her head to tell me that he's not okay and he's not wanting to see us anytime soon. She quietly drops the blanket in my hands, turning towards the staircase, "I'm... going to change."

Bella heads upstairs and I see Charlie slump in his chair, clearly not knowing what to do with his daughter. I finish the game with Charlie, occasionally making him chuckle with my yelling at the players and the calls the refs made, but ultimately go upstairs to my room.

Something in me told me to check on my cousin, knowing that whatever happened between her and Jake was going to be painful for her. Cueing my intrigue, I look across the hall and hear hushed voices and a soft thud outside our house. I rest my warm hand on the cool brass knob about to check on Bella when she whips the door open so fast it practically flies off the hinges, her distraught eager face meets mine and she tries to push past me but I plant my feet so she can't move past me. "Isabella Marie Swan. What the Hell is going on right now?" I hiss at her in a low voice to make sure Charlie doesn't hear me.

Her whole body tenses at the sound of her full name, knowing that she's stepped in it and that I'll know if she lies to me.  Slowly exhaling, she backs up into her room, pulling me in with her,  "I have to go to the Rez. You can try and stop me or come with me?"

I bring a finger up to her to tell her to stay put, run across the hall grabbing my mom's hoodie and my car keys. "Let's go. I'm driving and I need some answers."

Bella and I climbed into my truck after sneaking past Charlie, who luckily was passed out on the couch. Continuing down the road past the rows of trees that surround Forks, Bella chuckles nervously, "Sorry Kody. But if I'm going to lose someone else, I need to know why."

I get that more than she understands. I already lost one brother for an unexplained reason, I lost my mother to cancer, my father to a car crash, I wasn't ready to lose my best friend too. I lock my eyes on the La Push roads ahead of me as I pull off the road to where Bella, Jake and I were last together. I put the truck in park and we hesitantly slid out of the cab of the truck. The moon illuminates the clearing with noises whistling around us as we stood a few feet from my vehicle.
