WITHOUT A TRACE

HER RESOLVE

Two hours after picking benny up from school, Iris made her way to her son's room and found him sitting on his bed clutching Mr Rainbow tightly to his chest. He always did that whenever he was worried.
She walked up to him and sat beside him on the bed.
Iris: Baby, you know we have to talk about what happened at school today right?
Benny: Yes mom.
Iris: So, what happened?
Benny: Dad's friend was at school today...
Iris: What friend?
Benny: She said she was dad's friend. She was at his house yesterday.
Iris: Patty? What did she want?
Benny: She talked to me about her and dad. She said they were going to get married but Dad won't want to marry her now that we are here.
Iris: She said that?
Benny: She made me promise not to tell you. Mom? Was she telling the truth? Are we intruding on Dad's life?
Iris: Baby, I don't know if your Dad has plans to marry her but what I do know is we are not intruding on your Dad's life and if he wants to be with her,I would never stand in the way of that. I would never want him to be unhappy.
Benny: What if Dad doesn't want to be a part of my life anymore?
Iris: Honey, you are my special boy and I am always going to be a part of your life. I am always going to be here for you. Do you hear me?
Benny: Yes ma'am.
Iris: I love you Benny.
Benny: I love you too.
Iris: Come on. Dinner's ready.
As they walked out of the room, Iris couldn't help but wonder why Patty had to go looking for her son and why she said those things to a seven year old child. Did she make a mistake telling Barry the truth about Benny?
She could take all the hurt and pain in the world. She can handle it but if anyone dared to hurt her baby,she would bring a world of hurt to that person.
Benjamin is all she cared about. She would do anything to protect him and keep him safe from everything and everyone who might hurt him.....even from his father........
Barry would never intentionally hurt Benny. She knows that but she also thought he'd never hurt her either but he did.
It wasn't intentional but he ended up hurting her when he never made it clear to his best friend that he didn't love her as more than a friend and if he doesn't set things straight this time,he might end up hurting their son.
So she decided she was going to talk to him at work tomorrow. She was going to make it clear that whatever his relationship with Patty was,she wasn't going to let that woman hurt her child.
He had to a choice to make........
1. Let Patty know that Benny was always going to be a part of his life and that all she is to him is the mother of his child or
2. Cut off all ties to their son and focus on his relationship with Patty.
Whatever he chose, Benny's safety is all that matters, whether or not it kills her that he might have moved on with his life.......
Still,she knew she had no right to be upset. He was a wonderful man and he deserved to be happy......
