Barry didn't get a chance to talk to Iris after Patty showed up at his house on Sunday.
He knew something was wrong because she didn't smile as much as she did whenever he was around.
He was going to fix it this time. He won't let her run from him again and he was going to sort this Patty issue once and for all.
She was his best friend since childhood, he should know her better than anyone but he was still trying to figure her out. It seems like she's gone crazy.......
He decided to call her and set things straight. She said she was at a meeting and could only meet him by 3pm.They agreed to meet at Paul's, the little diner on park and 15th.
When he got there, Patty was already waiting at a table by the window. She looked so happy to see him that for a minute he could actually recognize the girl he grew up with.
He took the seat across from her and told her they had to talk.
A waitress came to their table with two cups of coffee and they thanked her as she left.
Patty: I took the liberty of ordering for us while I waited.
A double shot of espresso just the way you like it.
Barry: I don't drink coffee, you know that. Not for years.
Patty: I'm really trying Barry. You have to meet me halfway. How are we ever going to plan a life together if you negate everything I do....
Barry: Woah..... Patty slow down. Plan a life together? We talked about this. You are my bestfriend and I care about you. That's all it is. There's no us. Never has been. Never will be.
Patty: Never say never Barry. There will be an us as soon as Iris is out of the picture.
Barry: She's not going anywhere Patty. If she did, I would chase her to the ends of the Earth. I'm not letting her go this time. She's always going to be a part of my life. She's the mother of my son. I love her. Always have, Always will.
Patty: You used to be different Barry. Kinder, nicer. You used to say all the right things. You met her and then you changed. I could hardly recognize you. My coffee drinking bestfriend suddenly became a tea drinker. You said you loved me. You gave me this bracelet when you asked me to marry you....
Barry: We were seven years old Patty and I made that in art class. Why do you still have that?
It doesn't fit anymore.
Patty: I kept it because it was a gift from you. It's important to me...
Barry: Patty, you are young and beautiful. You will find someone who truly loves you. You just have to open your heart and let it happen.
Patty: I can't do that. I love you Barry. You said you love me too. What happened to you?
Barry: I grew up Patty. I fell in love. I found the love of my life, my soul mate.
Patty: And you proposed to her five months after meeting her?
You barely knew her Barry. You made such a big decision without consulting me? You would have ruined your life.....
Barry: Is that why you chased her away? What did you do? What did you say?
Patty: Nothing. I just told her the truth... that you were misguided..
Barry: Why would you do that?
Patty: Because I love you Barry. I did it for you. To save you. To prevent you from ruining your life just as you are doing now....
Barry:Maybe we shouldn't see each other anymore. Goodbye Patty...
Patty: Barry! Barry!!!!
