**ASHLYN'S POV**
"Are you sure this is gonna work?" I asked, looking back at Sammi uncertainly. We stood in front of a huge grey building, where Andy and Ashley were apparently being held. They'd been missing for almost two months now, but we'd finally been able to track down where they'd been taken. Crissy had "borrowed" a jeep from a car dealership, and she was now waiting in the front of the building. "Is this even a wall of the room they're in?"
"I have no idea," she replied with a shrug. "But it's all we've got. If we end up coming face to face with some vampire hunters, you guys can take them, I know you can. And if you can't, the others are waiting to provide back up."
I looked over at Blade next to me. I could feel the nervousness he felt twist in my own stomach. We both missed our parents immensely, with only faint memories from when we were babies of them left. Granted, that had only been a few weeks ago, but to us it felt like years. Now we were physically around eleven years old. Well, REALLY strong eleven year-olds. 'What do you think?' I mouthed to him.
Blade shrugged. 'Worth a try.' He mouthed back, then cleared his throat and said, "On the count of three?"
"On the count of three," I agreed, bracing myself and turning toward the wall. "One, two...."
"THREE!" Blade yelled, and we both backed up a little and took a running start at the wall, slamming into it forcefully. The wall shook and groaned, but didn't give way.
"Again?" I asked, and he nodded. We backed up again, this time a few feet more, and sprinted at full speed toward the wall, making shake a little harder this time. A crack was forming in the hard concrete now, a good sign. "One more time?"
"That should do it," he replied, backing up with me a little farther and running at the wall, colliding with it as hard as we could.
The crack widened and spread, and we watched as the wall gave way, crashing to the ground in a symphony of flying rock and dust. Blade and I were thrown back against Sammi.
"You guys okay?" she asked. When we both said we were fine, she pulled something out of her purse and handed it to me. "Give this to Ashley. He's gonna need it."
"Okay," I took the blood bag from her and clutched it tightly in my hand. If he's still alive to drink anything I thought. I really hoped he was.
Blade and I rushed through the semi-truck-sized hole we'd created, only to stop dead in our tracks. Lying motionless on the ground in front of us were two figures. I recognized them immediately from my faint memories as my fathers. But there was something wrong. They were so still...too still.
No.
My brother and I exchanged a look and immediately rushed to our parent's side. "They aren't dead," Blade whispered, at Andy's side as quickly as I was at Ashley's. "Not yet anyway."
"Blade...?" I heard a deep voice groan faintly, a voice that stirred a level love inside me that only a family member could achieve. Andy opened his eyes and turned his head slightly, looking at me. "A-Ashlyn?"
"Daddy?" Blade's voice sounded worried. He looked up at me. "Ashlyn, somethings wrong with him."
"Not wrong," I shook my head. "Different," I reached over and turned Andy's head to the side and sucking in a breath when I saw the fang marks on his skin. "Blade, go get another blood bag from Sammi."
Blade nodded and left quickly. I, meanwhile, ripped open the bag I had in my hand and tilted Ashley's head up a little. At the movement, his eyes flickered open, and he smiled slightly. "Ashlyn."
"Open your mouth," I comanded. He did as I instructed, and I poured the blood carefully into his mouth, careful not to spill a single drop. Slowly, Ashley's strength came back to him as he drank.
When he was finished, he sat up and looked at me for a moment before pulling me into a tight hug. "You came for us."
I nodded and hugged him back, feeling a small spot inside me that had been empty for so long fill. I had my fathers back.
"Oh god," Ashley gasped, noticing Andy when he pulled away from me. "ANDY!"
Blade returned just then with another blood bag. He rushed to Andy's side and knelt next to him, feeding him the blood the exact same way I'd done with Ashley. "It's okay, he's gonna be fine."
Andy smiled and sat up, grabbing my hand and Blade's and pulling us both into a hug. "I missed you guys so much!"
"We missed you, too," my brother and I said in unison. I felt Ashley join in on the family hug, and smiled happily. I had my family back.
"We need to get out of here," Ashley said after a moment. "Now," he stood and helped Andy up.
We all ran out of the hole and out into the night. "Aunt Crissy!" I yelled, racing past Sammi with Blade. "Start the car! We got them!"
**ASHLEY'S POV**
My kids had saved my life partner and my life.
Now that is something I never thought I'd say, but it was true.
Andy was a lot weaker than me, mostly because he hadn't drank as recently as I had. I had to help him out of the gaping hole our children had made in the wall. When I saw Sammi standing there, worry flashed through me. I wasn't sure Andy would be able to be around human blood yet.
"A-Andy?" Sammi stuttered when she saw him. "Ashley, what's wrong with him?"
"He's weak," I explained, pulling her along with us, being careful to keep her at arm's distance from me and Andy.
Just then, Andy lifted his head, gaze locked on her. "Sammi...?" he breathed, then moaned. "Oh god, what's that smell?"
Shit shit shit! I flinched and looked at Sammi with wide eyes. She'd realized what was going on, and her face was pale. "Run ahead," I told her. "Get in the car, and be sure to stay behind the others."
She nodded and took off, reaching the car shortly before Andy and I and diving in. I saw her crawl into the back, in the protection of Jinxx, Jake and CC. I helped Andy into the seat gently. "Come on, baby."
"Ashley," he gasped, eyes watering as he looked in the back, right at Sammi. "Ashley, my th-throat...."
Crissy tossed me a blood bag from the front seat as Ronnie started the car and sped off. I looked back to Andy, and saw that his crystalline blue eyes had turned crimson. "Andy," I took his face and forced him to look at me. "Control yourself, I know you can. Here, take this."
Andy grabbed the blood bag out of my hand and ripped it open, drinking from it deeply. Slowly, the red drained from his eyes like running paint. When he was finished with the bag, he sat back and sighed.
"Better?" I asked, watching him carefully.
"Better," he nodded and looked back at Sammi. "Sorry about that."
Sammi waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine," but I noticed she stayed positioned behind Jinxx.
"Thanks so much, guys," I said, looking around at all my friends and my kids. "We didn't have long left. If you had come any later, we probably wouldn't have been there to save."
"Don't mention it," Ronnie said from the driver's seat. "You guys know we'd never abandon you."
I felt someone tug at the sleeve of my shirt. I looked down to see Ashlyn staring up at me with her huge blue eyes. "Are you okay now, Daddy?" she asked in a small voice.
"Yes, Ashlyn," I grinned and hugged her tightly. "God, I can't believe how big you guys have gotten!"
"Blame it on our genes," Blade grinned from beside his sister. He looked so much like Andy, it gave my heart a small jolt. Same eyes, same nose, and same skinny build.
"Yeah, genes," Andy gave me a look. He was worried, I could tell. But about what, exactly, I couldn't say.
