**ASHLEY'S POV**
I walked into the jeweler's store a bit timidly. I had told Andy I was going hunting, and I was planning to, but first I had a little something to take care of, and I wanted to make sure he didn't know about it. Walking up to the counter, I cleared my throat quietly to get the lady behind the counter's attention. "Hi, I'm Mr. Purdy. I believe I called here earlier...."
The woman looked up from the book she was reading. She was maybe in her late twenties, early thirties, with blonde hair tucked neatly in a bun, and kind green eyes. "Oh, yes, Mr. Purdy," she said with a bright smile. "You're here to look at engagement rings?"
        "That's right," I replied.
"Wonderful," she unlocked the cabinet behind which she was standing. "Who's the lucky lady, if I may ask?"
        "Guy, actually."
        "Ah. What's his name?"
        "Andy."
The woman popped back up from behind the counter with a tray of rings. "Well, do you have anything specific in mind for the ring?"
"Umm, not really," I admitted. "Price doesn't matter, though." I had a credit card in my pocket, and I was not afraid to use it.
"Well, here are our finest quality rings," she said, pushing the tray toward me. "Take a look here and see if there's anything that catches your eye."
I scanned the tray of maybe thirty or so rings, and found myself drawn to one almost immediately. It was silver, with diamonds and rubies circling the band. As soon as I saw it, I knew without a shadow of a doubt that Andy would love it. "This one," I said, pointing to the ring. "How much is it?"
The woman leaned down and inspected the ring carefully. "That one? It's $35,000."
I flinched slightly. That was a big number, but I wasn't gonna need to eat any time soon. "I'll take it."
"Great," she ran my card through the scanner and handed me the ring in a small, plain black box. "I'm sure Andy will love it."
"I hope he will," I replied, taking the box from her and slipping it into my pocket. "Thank you."
"My pleasure, Mr. Purdy. Have a great day."
