The Talk

David's POV

Nat was laying beside me as I edited the new vlog and I couldn't help but feel that feeling in my stomach again. I also had a sort of feeling of guilt because I had overheard her conversation with hem mom this morning and she didn't know. I mean, we tell each other everything and we share everything as well. Like, she just packed my entire suitcase including my underwear and condoms. Although, I couldn't help but realize that when I told her to pack condoms she had a sort of shock and disappointed look on her face. I hope she didn't think that I planned to have sex with anyone else. I mean, how would she know? should I tell her that they were for her? Well, I mean hopefully. Maybe she was right when she said that I was being optimistic. Ugh what am I doing? I have to tell her that I know. 

"Hey, Nat?"

"Yeah?"

"you know how me and you are always honest with each other?"

"Yeah?"

"well, there's been something that I've sort of been keeping from you since this morning but it's been eating me up the whole day and I just have to tell you."

"what's wrong Dave?"

"Oh, no, don't worry. It's nothing bad it's just that. Umm... well..."

"Come on Dave. Whatever it is you can tell me"

"Well, this morning when you asked if I'd just woken up and I said yes, well that was kind of a lie. I had been awake for about half and hour and I heard the last bit of the conversation you had with your mom". She suddenly sent red and her eyes looked like they where about o pop out of her head from embarrassment. "Well, I sort of heard the part where you said that it was possible that you liked me but you didn't want to ruin out friendship because I was too important to loose. When I hear that I should have just walked away but I couldn't because I just needed to make sure that I had heard correctly and well..."

"What is it?"

"Well, I sort of like you too but I don't want to ruin our friendship either" I turned my head to look at her because I was so embarrassed that I hadn't been looking at her the whole time. When I saw her face, she was blushing really hard and had the biggest smile on her face. I proceeded to say "well, The last couple of months I've seen you in a new light. like, you aren't shy anymore specially your close friends and me. And I just really like how comfortable be are around each other. Maybe those 'Datalie' ships are not so wrong after all." She just looked at me, still with that huge smile across her face and said "Maybe not". At this, I couldn't help myself and I smiled just as wide as her or even more. We were now looking straight in to each other's eyes. I couldn't help but notice the slight glow on her face and then her lips. As my eyes quickly took a glance at her lips and then bak at her eyes and her eyes did the same. Now we were an inch closer and without realising I took my right hand way from my laptop and slowly brought it up to caress the side of her face and bring her face closer to mine where we could now feel each others breath slowly hitting the others' lips. This made me shiver slightly and I tilted my head to the right and finally, our lips met. Unsure at first, we just stayed there for three seconds and that's when I decided to deepen the kiss. I slightly poked my tongue out asking for permission which she didn't hesitate to give me and suddenly, we were both passionately kissing for a good 30 seconds. We both pulled away slightly out of breath and stayed looking in to each others eyes. We were both smiling once again and we just turned back to my laptop. She laid her head back down beside me but something took over me and I brought her closer to me with my right arm around her. Now, she had her head lying on my chest and for some reason it felt like it just belonged there.

I didn't want to be the one to break up the moment but I felt that it needed to me asked "So now, what happens?"

"I don't know"

"Well, neither of us want it to get in the middle of our friendship and we are already so comfortable around each other so why don't we just keep it the same but with the exception that now we can kiss"

"I am all for that" She turned her head to look up at me and gave em a quick peck before going back to her position on my chest. 

She then added "Ok, but can we promise not to tell anyone just yet. Like not eve our friends because we are still not clear on what this is and I feel like it's still to early so I just want to keep it that way before any of them ruin it".

"I agree, although, you mom already sort of knows"

A couple of minutes later, I felt Nat sleeping on me while I was still editing the video. I decided to let her take a small nap for 45 minutes before we had to leave for the airport. I was really in to the editing and I didn't even realize when Nat's mom came in. I suddenly stoped when I heard her whisper my name to not wake up Nat. I looked up from the screen and she told me, "Hey, David, I think we should start heading off. We don't have that much time left. Do you guys have everything?". I responded with "Oh yeah and Nat packed all of our stuff so I just need to close my suitcase. I'll wake her up and we'll head to to the airport. I'm so excited to go back to Chicago". "Yeah me too." she then left the room to collect the last few things and I shut my laptop. I then kissed Natalie on her soft dark brown hair and quietly called her name for her to wake up. She fluttered her eyes open and slightly stretching her arms out. I called out with a a faint "Hey. We need to get going because we don't have that much time left." She sat up on the bed, still quite sleepy and nodded in agreement. 

An hour later we were all sat in their first class seats that I had upgraded us to. Nat's mom was sitting across the isle from me and Nat who were sitting right next to each other. While we were waiting to take off, Nat's mom was already completely out of it and Nat turned to me and asked, "So, if you knew about my feelings for you and you felt the same way, why did you bring the condoms?". It was slightly out of the blue and I was sort of shy in case she didn't the same or thought we were moving too fast so I just responded, "Really Nat? I was sort of hoping I would get lucky with the girl I like who just happens to be my best friend". She just responded with a smile and a huge hug. "hey you can sleep again now and I'll tell them to wake us up 15 minutes before we land"

"David, you know I'm not like you. I can't just fall asleep anywhere."

"Yeah, but you're not falling asleep anywhere, I'm right here with you." She hugged me and we both fell asleep in that position.
