Moria(n.): a persons fate or destiny.

Error swatted a hand at the strings in Hotland, getting rid of the strings slowly. It frustrated him how slow he was in taking them down. He threw the last of the final strings down into the lava.

"Welp! That's done," He noticed a string clung to his coat. "Now I feel bored." He said throwing the string to its fiery demise. He looked at the lab and then back at the path to Waterfall, he weighed his options with 'How much time can I waste?' and chose the route to Waterfall. Maybe Ink had something more for him to do.

It was boring now that he can't do his job. That's really all he did besides watch Undernovela and waste more time in Outertale and the Anti-Void between destroying.

Red, irony dirt turned into hard stone. Error kicked up a rock and kicked it along as he went. He hummed a small tune for a while but it trailed off eventually when a random thought popped in his head.

Ink.

It was more of a name, but still his thinking. Error still felt something every time he saw him. Had Ink gotten over...them? He felt himself drift farther and farther away from reality as his thoughts consumed him. What snapped him out of it was the soft talking of someone around.

"I just don't wanna be here anymore sometimes. I can't even feel right! God, I'm stupid..." Error heard them laugh but it was pitiful, he looked around the corner to see Ink talking to an Echo Flower. He quickly retracted from view, hiding behind the rocky cliff between him and Ink. They were mere feet apart, so Error could hear him crying and whimpering from still speaking.

Wait...he...doesn't want to...oh god.

Error felt guilty. None of this would've happened if I didn't mess up. If anything it's my fault. He wanted to say sorry, but that wasn't going to cut it for all the mistakes he's made. He just wanted him better, he thought that being enemies that Ink would want to be alone,

Like how I want to be. Ink's the last person to leave alone, that's what Error wanted. Selfish, isn't it?

I can only hurt, that's what they want me to be. And they want Ink to be something to, right? To be the hero. We were taken apart because we are supposed to be fighting and complete opposites. We're supposed to hate each other but I don't. What about Ink? Does he hate me now, like we are supposed to?

"They need me to be stronger than this, b-but I don't know if I can be." His voice was hurting, his words pulled at Error's soul, "Why can't I just be normal like everyone else creators? Why'd you make me this way—there has to be a reason."

He's asking the creators. He's not gonna get an answer, he's just gonna get his hopes crushed again. What do I do? Could I try to fix it or have I already done enough damage?

"Why did you want me like this?"

There was one final pause before he spoke, "If the Multiverse does get too corrupted to fix, then I can fix it—that means I'm dying though." Wait...what the hell is he saying? "I can restart the world and save them if everything goes bad. I never told anyone because when would I ever have to use this power?" He's gonna...he would sacrifice himself? "Not like it would come down to that, hopefully."

"Ink—" Error turned the corner quickly but wasn't prepared with words to say. He met Ink's eyes, scared of his sudden appearance. Error found himself with no words. What could he say?

"Ink, you wouldn't do that, right?" Ink tried to say something without crying but it didn't work, so he just looked away. "Ink." Error repeats his name, hoping to get a reaction. He wasn't good with emotions, and not exactly good at making people feel better.

"Why do you care?" He mumbled into his tear-stained scarf as if it was a shield to his face.

"Why wouldn't I?! You just said you would be fine with killing yourself, how is that fine?!" He said it almost angrily, but it was out of fear. Ink shrunk back into the realization of what he said. Error saw his reaction and softened his tone, crouching down in front of him. "Ink, I care about you—why would you think I don't?" That was a very stupid question Error. Of course he would think that. He slapped himself mentally.

"I don't know, why'd you want to be enemies?" Why are you like this Error. Error slapped himself mentally twice today.

"I thought you might've needed space after everything has happened, but clearly I just made it worse," Error continued, "But...maybe we can talk? We could maybe fix something?" He said it confused and hoping Ink would stay and talk.

"Wow, Error, talking. This is new." Ink said plainly with sarcasm.

"Shut up! I'm trying to help!" Error glitches, "I kind of just don't like you being sad and stuff," Ink stayed silent, not knowing what to say. Error speaks to break the thick silence, "Well first of all, why do you always ask the creators for help?"

Ink looked at him like he asked if Santa was real, "...Because they are the creators?" He answered slowly.

"Well Ink, do they answer?" Error asked him with the same tone Ink had, even though he knew the answer.

"N-No." Ink's face flushed a spectrum of colors in embarrassment. Error leaned next to the rock wall next to Ink.

"Well they aren't going to answer so I'm gonna answer for them," Error inhales, "You are normal as far as I can tell. Like every other Sans, you have something different that makes you you. And that thing is being a completely soulless monster with more artistic talent than my stickmen." This made Ink chuckle. "You are perfect the way you are, okay?"

Ink smiled, "So are you saying you finally like the AUs and their uniqueness?" He asked hopefully.

"Nope. Still all filthy glitches I usually can't tolerate." Ink went 'darn!' with a jokingly disappointed face. They both laugh lightly. "You still didn't answer my other question," Whatever happiness was in the air quickly ceased to exist. "You wouldn't do that? You wouldn't hurt yourself, right?"

Ink bit his cheek. He wasn't sure what to answer. He would definitely if that meant saving the Multiverse, but how could he say that to Error? But it's not like it would come down to that. Something would have to go terribly wrong for him to do that. It was the last resort for a dire and serious situation.

"I don't know." And he was actually not sure, "It would have to be really bad—and I mean really bad, for me to do that."

"Well whatever happens, I'm not gonna let you. I don't want to be in a Multiverse without you," Error paused for a second. "Even with me, the Multiverse can get pretty lonely."

"It can." Ink nods softly. "But," He leaned towards a unsuspecting glitch. Error surprisingly didn't flinch, he just glitched a bit, but that died down as well. "We have each other." Ink smiles to say, 'Everything's gonna be okay.'

Error smiles back, tilting his head back until he felt the stone, "Well then, that's all I need." Ink's fingers poked at Error's hand, wanting something. Error intertwined both their fingers together, something about it gave him that same feeling he missed.

Bonus:

"Hey Ink...what are we?" Error asked blushing. Ink replies with a snore. "Why do you always fall asleep on me?"

"Because you're comfy..." Ink whines. He wraps his arms around Error, and Error glitch screams.

"I'm not a goddamn pillow!" He said angrily. Ink laughs at his reaction.

"Like a body pillow..."

"You ruined the moment!"
