Void- The Neighbourhood

"You're up late." Edmund commented as his ex-girlfriend walked into the library.

"It's only midnight, not that late for me." Sanya shrugged. "I was sure you were up, so I wanted to wish you happy birthday."

"Oh. Thanks." He was rather surprised, if a bit touched, by her words and then even more so as she sat down on the sofa he was occupying- although, of course, on opposite ends. "I wouldn't have thought you'd wish me, after everything."

"Well, I don't really make smart decisions, so." She bit her lip, and did her absolute best to ignore how handsome he looked- bathed in moonlight, seeming to make his pale skin almost glow, his dark hair delightfully mussed- because if she noticed it, she'd start drooling and staring creepily. "What're you reading?"

"Some of the Telmarine battle accounts, there've been reports of rogue Telmarines groups, who aren't pleased with Caspian's marriage and the Kings and Queens of Old ruling with him. I'm just trying to figure out their strategy and things, seeing how they fight without catapults and all, and make tactical decisions how to counter them." He answered, slipping a bookmark into the folds of the pages and closing the book.

Yet people would still believe he was a Slytherin, Sanya snorted inwardly.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked suddenly, before adding quickly, "Not about- not about us..."

Edmund nodded and took off his reading glasses- they helped while reading but not while gazing at the only person he'd ever been in love with.

"You're pansexual, which means you like all genders- rather, that gender isn't a factor for you when it comes to sex." Oh, she hoped that she was describing pansexuality properly. "But, like...is there a gender you prefer? I mean, I'm bi, but I've never been with a woman so I can't decide if I have a preference- unless, of course, you count the one time I had to kiss Susan last year because someone-" She gave him a pointed look "forgot to take off the mistletoes."

"You enjoyed it!" He retorted accusingly, and she nodded in an 'obviously' way. "And no, not really...I have been with more men, though, if that counts."

"You've been with men?" She asked, surprised- and still he'd asked her if he was straight...

As he began to speak again, she shifted unconsciously closer to him.

"Well, there were lots of raids and small battles in the Golden Age. Lots of lonely nights- both with a k and without." He smirked, and she gave a small laugh. "Anyway, that was all technically thousands of years ago- in this body, in this ei- nineteen-year-old body, I'm very much still an untouched pure flower."

"Speaking as someone who has touched you and been touched by you a lot, you may be pure but you are not untouched."

"Does he touch you like I do?" He didn't know why he asked that, but he couldn't seem to control his burning curiosity about Peter and Sanya's relationship right- not while she was sitting next to him, with big brown eyes and her seductive (it was only to a boy brought up in the 40s who would think her nightwear sexy as opposed to childish) 21st century pajamas and a husky voice.

Sanya swallowed and wished she was in bed.

"Who?" She blurted out stupidly, and was reminded of the 'act dumb - not that dumb' meme.

"Peter, obviously. I don't think you're dating any other blond brothers of mine, or are you?" He asked sarcastically, unable to curb his usually-suppressed jealousy as well.

But they weren't dating, not officially, not exclusively.

"Can I give you your birthday gift?" She asked quietly, hardly daring to look at him.
