There was a soft song of birds on the breeze while the sunlight would shine down on the world below. Each blade of grass in ever passing field or hill seemed to be greener, holding a nice contrast against the clear sky. The world was no longer dark and grey, but revitalized. Occasionally there was a reminder of the past, weather it be an unmarked grave or a turned over wagon. These reminders were exactly that, reminders. The world would never forget the destruction that Dracula brought down, never forget the lives loss. Of course a few minions had wandered around, but their numbers would slowly die off.
You threw a long rope up and over a sturdy piece of wood, letting most of it drop down the steep drop below. You then tossed the end of it to Trevor. "Tie that to something strong." You commanded.
"To myself then?" He teased.
"No, idiot... I meant something that's not coming down there with me." You said, but had an amused smile nonetheless.
Trevor tied the end of the rope around a large piece of rubble, rubble that had once made up his childhood home. He gave it a firm tug to make sure it wouldn't come loose then sent a nod your way. You nodded back then took a few steps away from the hole. Suddenly, you ran forward and jumped just before the drop, leaping forward to the rope. Your hands would clamp around it, only sliding down a little bit before your grip was too strong. There was a small burning feeling but you quickly shrugged it off, starting your decent shortly after.
Once at the bottom, you scowled from the smell. The night creature that Trevor killed in this stairwell was still decomposing and the smell had made you turn your nose up in disgust. You waved a bit of the smell away then looked up from the pit. "Okay, I'm down!" You called up.
Your dog barked wildly at the sound of your voice, but was quickly shushed and told to sit by Trevor. Soon Trevor came down the broken stairwell as well, raising a brow when he picked up the same smell you did earlier.
"For fucks sake, I'm not cleaning that up." He scowled.
"It's your fault it's there... You killed it." You argued.
"Well it was going to kill us first." He said. You rolled your eyes then turned to where the library was. Both you and Trevor ended the massive chamber, the number of books overwhelming you both a bit. You slowly but surely made your way downstairs and to the ledger at the bottom, trying to figure out where to start.
"We should of asked Alucard to help." You sighed.
"No, no. We don't need him." Trevor quickly said.
"But he's good at this stuff..."
"He's also good at being a pain in my ass."You chuckled slightly then went back to focusing on the ledger. Trevor aimlessly looked around, seeing that most of the torches had gone out now without Sypha to keep them lit. He wasn't a magician so they'd be in the dark soon, though of course he could always light a torch he could reach. When you cleared your throat to catch his attention, he turned around. You pointed to the ledge, a specific section you had singled out earlier.
"What we're looking for would be around the north section." You said, pointing forward to a maze of book cases. Trevor only nodded, looking over your shoulder to peak at the ledger himself. You rolled you eyes, seeing he was just trying to seem interested. Instead of poking fun at him, you walked away and to where the book you wanted was supposed to be.
You walked around the book cases and shelves full of unique items. Eventually you stopped, seeing you had reached the end of the room. The wall was covered in pictures, depictions of monsters and beasts being slayed. They gave you pause for a moment, but nothing disturbed you more than the giant stuffed werewolf statue in the corner. You walked towards it then touched your hand to one of its arms. The creature was posed in a most aggressive state, ready to rip it's claws into anything it could. Unlike you, this one was grey with green and now glossed over eyes to preserve it's color. It was hard to tell if the killing of your kind was just, mostly since you knew that it was easy to turn feral and do something horrific. This stuffed lycanthrope could of been wild, could of murdered innocent travelers. But perhaps they were the victim instead of the murderer, the prey instead of the predator. They could of been hunted by the Belmonts for whatever reason and kept around as a trophy for who knows what.
