Prepare yourself for chapter 23 y'all.

Que te importa, Mateo. Ponte hacer algo de provecho - What does it matter, Mateo. Go do something useful

Cobija - blanket

I've only rode the train once. It was with my dad and Benicio, back when we couldn't afford as much and I had wanted to see the planetarium there as a kid. It was shorter than I remember or maybe it was just how talkative they all (Hudson the exception) are that made the hour long ride feel like nothing.

"I really fuckin hope this is worth it"

"Oh. It'll be brilliant. If anything goes tit's up then you don't ever have to follow me on anythin ever again" Cas says leading us to a beach. All he said to me earlier was that he was going to give me a 'proper view of the city' with a 'proper good time'. It didn't explain why it was so far or the guitars.

Sayen looks up from her phone, out of the loop "What about never following Cas again? God, take it. You hang out with him too long he'll get you arrested at least once, drunk off your mind the next, and when your defenses are gone you'll wake up from a drunk night to a colonoscopy at 5am"

My eyes flicker towards Cassius, "I really hope the colonoscopy part was a joke"

He raised both his eyebrows and huffed delighted, "Suppose being arrested is fine then?"

"You wouldn't have thought this guy would turn out this way out of high school" Gen shakes her head that's down at a text message.

"Oh, how the troubled make trouble" He smirks, "I'd say I'm an improvement"

"What were you like in high school?" I ask trying to imagine it. Cas was not as tall as Jasper or as bulky. Maybe the futbol kind of guy?

"He was nerdy" Hudson murmurs as we walk out of the train station and into the street.

"Total loser. I was the only fag at a Catholic private school. Teachers were fine with it, but bollocks, my fuckin' school mates were hell. I moved away. I was a theatre kid. Starting third year I did every musical since my old one didn't do those sorts of things. I was always in the library"

"Do you play a sport?" Drawing attention to how fit he looks.

"Organized sports take the piss out of me" He shakes his head, grinning at the thought like it's ridiculous, "What were you like? Ben says you were shy in school"

Breathing in, I fix my posture, "I never know how to feel about it. I barely think it happened. I did too much shit for college. Any honor society possible. Bowling. Cross Country. But I gotta admit, I was a bit of a lonely bastard, too"

I hesitate. I don't want to seem so pathetic. I had good memories. I had lots of friends at the time. But none that mattered enough to keep in touch, "I don't talk to anyone from high school anymore. Strangers now I'd say even if it hasn't been so long. They saw a way out of this town and took off. I don't blame them"

Hudson grunts, agreeing.

"I just didn't fit in any one place, so I'd drift between people"

"That's odd. I didn't expect that" Genesys blurts out, straightforwardly. Sayen shoves her.

"No, I mean, you don't look like the type" Sayen shoves her again grumbling that appearances mean nothing. She immediately tries to recover, "Were you popular with girls? People?"

I blush, "Uh, I don't know. What's considered popular?"

"Did you fuck around lots?" Cas adds like that helps.
