Narrator pov

Dinner

They all sat at the table quiet the only thing you could hear was forks hitting the plates and taking a sip of their drinks

"So how was your day flora? Miles?" Nicole asked "sad, I lost Polly, she was my favorite doll" flora said "awe, maybe tomorrow I can go back into town and buy you some more dolls" Nicole said "can I come?" Flora asked "sure, you'll love it back in town" Nicole said "I want tag along, I need more clothes" I said "then how about we all go" Nicole said and shrugged my shoulders

"Miles? Would you like to come?" Nicole asked and he nodded "sure" he said while keeping his eyes on his plate

And rolled my eyes and I continued eating

The next day

Ava pov

"Come on aves, wake up we have to go" I heard Nicole's voice and I jumped up "ok, I'm up" I said and Nicole laughed "alright I'm getting flora and miles up" she said and I nodded

I brushed my hair out and I change my clothes

I was excited to go into town, I could finally check my phone and talk to my friends

Once everyone was ready we got into the car me being in the passenger seat miles sitting behind Nicole and flora sitting in the middle seat

"This will be a long drive, but I promise it'll be fun" Nicole said and flora nodded "I know how to be patience" flora said and I smiled at her

Her smile was way better than miles

I didnt have not one problem with flora at all she was an angel

We got to town, by town I mean the mall

"What is this place?" Flora asked "it's something called the mall, so make sure you hold on to my hand, you can get lost it's a lot a people here" Nicole said and flora nodded

"Miles your old enough to keep up with us" Nicole said

Narrator pov

Flora and Nicole walked ahead while Ava walked behind them and miles walked behind Ava

He watched as she tried keeping up with her short legs he smirked thinking about tripping her

He quickly walked behind her ready to trip her but something stopped him

Something deep down inside came up and made him stop "miles?" He looked up and saw the girls looking at him

Well not Ava she wasn't brave enough to look at miles

Miles walked up to catch up with the girls Ava stayed behind checking her phone

Her friends were having a great summer at the beach while she was living with an abusive 16 year old boy

Her eyes watered but she didn't notice "what's wrong?" She heard her sisters voice "nothing let's go" she said as they finally entered the mall

Flora looked around to see colors plastered everywhere

"Wow this place is amazing" flora said making Ava and Nicole smile

Miles thought the same thing but didn't want to admit it

"How do you like it miles?" Nicole asked the boy "it's fine" he said and Ava looked down "let's go to Claire's, flora might like it there" Ava said and Nicole nodded

The 4 walked around the mall they found Claire's and walked inside the store

Miles glared at the store "you alright?" Nicole asked "no, this place is too pink" she said and Ava let out a laugh and miles looked at her

Her smile faded and she look away "sorry" she said to the girls and miles

"Look at that teddy bear!" Flora said happily and dragged Nicole over

Ava then followed behind the girls

Miles doing the same

They watched as flora got amazed with everything in the store she didn't want to leave

"Aves, you should show miles some other stores" Nicole said "uh-I don't think miles would like that" Ava said with fright and Nicole looked over to miles "I would love to see other places" miles said and Ava shivered

"I'll call you when we're heading out" Nicole said "o-okay" Ava forced out and the 2 headed out "what should we do?" Ava asked the clueless boy

"I'm hungry" he said, ignoring her question "then we'll just go to the food court" she said and started walking

Miles followed behind her and this time he tried tripping her but luckily some boy caught her

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm a little clumsy" she said with a laugh as the boy looked her in her eyes "it's fine" he said and helped her back up correctly and they laughed "I'm Brian" he smiled "I'm Ava" she smiled and looked at miles to see him glaring at her "and I uh have to go" she said and the boy frowned "can I get your number?" The boy asked "sure" Ava smiled and he handed her his phone and she type in her number and called it

Her phone started ringing and she pulled it out

"Proof" she said with a smile and Brian smiled "I'll text you later" he said and she nodded and started walking again

"Why did you trip me you dick" Ava snapped the boy "why do you care? You seem to have enjoyed your fall" miles said and she rolled her eyes

He grabbed her wrist and whispered in her ear

"Keep up this attitude, watch what happens when we get home" he said "let go" she said and he tightened his grip "do you understand?" Miles snapped "yes" Ava spoke quickly and he let go "I hate you" Ava whispered

They got to the food court and Ava stood in line while miles stood behind her

Miles looked around as his eyes landed on a group of girls

They were all staring at him in awe

One girl waved making him smile slightly wave back

He then tapped avas shoulder "yea?" She asked while turning around "I'm uncomfortable, those girls are staring make them stop" miles said and Ava laughed "they think you're good looking" Ava said and he smirked "don't get too confident" Ava teased "hey, I'd like to agree with them" miles and Ava rolled her eyes

She was actually having an conversation with miles without getting hurt

They stopped talking being the next in line

Ava soon started to think

Maybe he's not so bad, and he is good looking

He has a great jawline, good cheekbones, perfect freckles, his nice curly hair that makes me want to run my fingers through his hair, his beautiful dark brown eyes

She got her thoughts cut off by miles slightly pushing her "hello, earth to Ava" he said making her heart flutter

He said her name normally; with no disgust

"Yes?" She asked "come on, order" he said with a laugh and she saw his smile for the first time

"Oh, we would like 2 number 1's..regular" Ava said "your total would be $13.69" the boy said and Ava took out her money and paid for the food

Miles felt bad, but he didn't have money with him

But Ava wasn't even worried about that

She was worried about what she thought about miles

I like miles
