Adrien sat down and placed a bowl of cookies on the table in front of him. Marinette sat next to him on the couch. They placed the photo album, charm bracelet, and rings on the table, but Adrien was still holding the diary. They had decided it was the best place to begin.

"Are you gonna open it?" Marinette asked. Adrien took a deep breath.

"Yeah." He pushed past his fear and excitement and opened up to the first page. It was an artful design with the words Emilie O'Connor drawn on. Beneath the words sat a blue and white peacock with bowed heads.

"I didn't know your mom could draw." Marinette said.

Adrien shook his head. "My dad drew that. It screams him all over it."

Marinette smiled. "That's so sweet!"

Adrien flipped another page and began to read. "'August 17, 1995; today I start school at Conley Prep. You were my going away present from mom and dad, and I'm so excited to start writing in you! London is so big and new, so is the college. I hope I make some new friends soon. I can't wait until Jane is here with me. We'll only be apart for this year, but that's still way too long.'

"I never knew my Mom went to school in London. I always thought she met my dad in Paris. And who's Jane?" Adrien wondered out loud.

Marinette only offered him a shrug. "Do you want to skip ahead a few pages? It looks like the first part is just about her starting school."

Adrien nodded and flipped ahead some. He started reading. "'September 5, 1996; I met a boy today. He seemed nice, but he was super shy. Did you know boys can draw? I guess I never really thought about boys drawing until now, but he was really good! He wants to be a fashion designer when he grows up. It's a long story of how I met him, and I wished we could've met somewhat differently. It started when I was heading to my locker before lunch.'"
