"uhg why have must you drag me out into the sun" I complain flailing my arms like a child. Dave just rolls his eyes "because sun is good for you and all you do is hide inside all day" he said. "I get that but couldn't we have done this... you know... at night" I said rolling my eyes. Dave just shrugged it off and continued walking me following close behind. "How about this, if you quit complaining we will go get ice-cream" he said in the manner you speak to a child. "First off I'm not a child and second of I would love some ice-cream" I say catching up to him.

After a short walk we arrive at an ice-cream parlor. Dave holds the door open for me "After you ma'am" he said ushering me inside I just chuckled and walk in with Dave right behind me. I walked up to the counter and looked at the flavors. After 30 seconds I decided to order. "I will have a double scoop of cookies and cream" I said with a firm nod at the end. Dave popped up behind me "And I will have a double scoop of strawberry" he said all giddy like. After moment we got our ice-cream and paid then sat down in the window and enjoyed our ice-cream.

"So what is it you do for work now?" Dave said while enjoying his ice-cream. Well shit what do I say to that. Uhm I don't work anymore since I have literally hundreds of thousands of dollars hidden under my bed. "At a convenience store I have the night shift" I said lying easily. "Cool at least you got a job quickly enough" he said giving me a nod. I just smiled "So how's work at the pawn shop been lately?" I asked. "Oh same old same old. Same annoying boss as always" Dave said as I chuckled. "Sounds fun" I say sarcastically. Dave just laughs.

Dave walked me back up to my apartment before he had to head out. "Hey I was nice to hang out we have to do that more often" I said giving Dave a hug. "Yeah we do and remember if you ever need anything give me a call" he said waving as he walked off. I turned around and went inside. Once inside I went up to the apartment and walked in to see Shayne cooking and dancing to the tune of Twenty-one Piolet's Jumpsuit. I smiled walking in and locking the door behind me.

She must have heard me close the door because she whipped around to look at me. She had flour covering her pants and part of her shirt. Her hair falling around her face in a mess. "Hey Foxy welcome home" she said looking very happy. "what the hell is going on in here" I say laughing at her appearance. She smiled and beckoned me over. "I'm making cookies" She said excitedly. I walked into the kitchen to see a big bowl of cookie dough with chocolate chips in it. "mm that sounds really good" I say trying to grab a bit of the cookie dough only to get my hand swatted away. "wait until there cooked" She said pointing her finger at me I just laughed. She turned around to put away the milk and eggs in the fridge and I took this as my opportunity to steal some cookie dough. I quickly grab and spoon full of it and started to eat it. Shayne turned around to see me eating the dough of a spoon. "Really I turned around for 5 seconds!" She said and grabbed the dough away from.

She finished putting her cookies in the oven and went to wash her hands clean of cookie dough. "So how was your outing with Dave?" she asked while pushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "it was good we walked through central park then went and got ice-cream" I say throwing my spoon which was now void of cookie dough into the sink. "Ahh so just what you need more sugar" She said laughing causing me to chuckle.

She quickly pulled out her phone and swiped through it for a moment before music began to play. I look at her confused before she grabs my hands quickly and swung me around. "What are you doing" I say to Shayne very confused. "Dancing idiot" she said swinging her arms still holding my hands. I joined in on the flailing of arms and uncoordinated foot work she called dancing. I was laughing and enjoying the way Shayne moved. Then I felt it once again. That feeling I couldn't recognize. And only in the moment that the light hit Shayne's eyes perfectly did I notice that they had specks of green within their deep hazel gaze. I simply couldn't stop smiling. This is perfect.

I eventually heard the kitchen timer go off which pulled me from my thoughts. "Ohh there done" Shayne said finally letting go of my hands to pull out the cookies. As soon as they were out I grabbed one and bit into it. "Fuck mistake big mistake" I yelped trying to cool down my mouth. Shayne looked at me with a you idiot look. "There're hot" She said laughing at me. "Yeah I noticed" I said swallowing the cookie.

We spent the rest of the night eating cookies and drinking wine while watching scary movies. Eventually I got drunk enough that I just started yelling at the screen every time someone did something stupid. Shayne was laughing her ass off at me clearly amused by my drunken ranting. I didn't take long for us to eventually pass out on the couch.

I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache I groaned trying to move but I felt a weight on me. I looked down to see Shayne passed out on my lap. I felt a blush creep up my face as I slipped out from under Shayne and slowly made my way to the bathroom. Once there I quickly grabbed a bottle of aspirin and a cup of water downing a couple of aspirin pills before grudgingly making my way back down stairs to see Shayne already up.

"Morning" She said in her usual chipper tone. I just groaned "How can you be so chipper. I have a massive hangover from last night" I said flopping back onto the couch. "uhm I guess I just don't get affected that badly" She said looking a bit nervous. I raised my eyebrow but decided to just ignore it. "well I have to head out to the police station have fun with your hangover" She said chuckling at me. I just groaned at waved her off causing her to roll her eyes as she headed out. I thought about what my life was for a bit. What the actual fuck have I gotten myself into. After much deliberation I concluded that life was in fact ok. I had my good friend Dave, my roommate/friend/crush Shayne, and even enough money to not have to worry about things for a long time. Yeah I guess everything was going to be just fine.
