...

Hey, Wonwoo...

It's me, Mingyu.

I want to say my thanks to you.

Why?

For reminding me of what love is.

For bringing back my past memories as a human.

For letting me be able to recall everything about my 'love at first sight'.

...

You.

Do you know that?

Haha, I bet you don't.

Now the memory is crystal clear in my head;

an ice cream shop,

a dark-haired boy,

and Kim Mingyu.

------===(------)===------

"Hi, Mingyu! What are you buying today?"

The bell on the glass door chimed, sending a ringing sound through the silent ice cream shop as a little boy walked in, stepping inside the building. "Two scoops of vanilla as usual, Jeonghanie Hyung!" the little boy, whose name was Mingyu, excitedly replied as he jumped in excitement towards the counter.

The man, who seemed to be in his early twenties, just smiled as he remade the tie of his long brown hair and patted his apron, on which written the name of the ice cream shop he was working at. He quickly turned around to take a cup and scooped two balls of vanilla ice cream easily. Meanwhile, the boy, who was still in his school uniform and a backpack tightly hugging him, enthusiastically searched for bucks and coins from his pants pocket to pay for the ice cream. "Here you go, my boy," Jeonghan called out as he went back to the counter, bringing the ice cream cup with a little plastic spoon dug onto the ice cream scoops.

Mingyu cheered silently in a cute way that the older couldn't help but to smile and coo at how adorable the kid was. Mingyu put the exact amount of money like he usually did on the counter as he took the ice cream cup from the worker. "Thank you, Hyung!"

The boy ate his first spoon of his favorite ice cream as he walked to one of the tables inside the shop far through the other end of the counter, facing the window which showed the front yard of the shop, though, to his slight dismay, the chairs were designed for adult: the little middle-schooler had his feet hanging, not touching the floor, his black shoes swinging back and forth as he ate his treat. Being a thirteen-year-old boy, Mingyu was considered a little below average in height among his friends, especially girls. His family said that was normal because girls usually got taller earlier, but then he would get way taller than that later. He decided to believe in that, innocently—but that was the truth, though he might not know. That being said, there were already plenty of boys in his class that already grew taller than everyone, making him envious of them. 'Why am I not tall like them?' he always questioned himself internally.

It was one quite sunny afternoon, just a few minutes after Mingyu's school bell rang, indicating the end of school for the day. His school was a bit far from his house, so he had to wait for his big brother, to give him a ride to their house. And this had been Mingyu's daily routines since the first day of his middle school. Mingyu had friends, as a side note; him being alone wasn't because that he didn't have one. He just followed what his mother told him to be there around that time of the day, so Kibum, his brother, would not have trouble finding him. Mingyu didn't protest as he was told that while eating his first ice cream in the shop. And soon, he became Jeonghan's number one favorite customer.

Mingyu cheered happily as he could see a familiar motorcycle coming into the parking lot. From behind the window, he could see his brother opened the front of his helmet and waved at him. Mingyu scooped his last spoon of ice cream as he walked to the front door. "Jeonghanie Hyung, see you tomorrow!" he said between his clenched teeth cutely as he still bit the ice cream spoon.

"See you, Mingyu!" Jeonghan responded excitedly as he still couldn't get over the fact that Mingyu was really cute; probably the cutest existence Jeonghan had ever known.

Mingyu tossed the empty ice cream up into the trash bin next to the front door as his other hand holding the door handle. He flinched in shock as he could feel someone pulling the door from the outside, causing the bell above him to chime. "I-I'm sorry," his cute kid, boyish voice stuttered as he let go of the handle and moved backway to let the other customer in.

He looked up to find a boy a lot taller than him, just like his classmates, with neat short black hair. The taller boy scrunched his nose as he smiled at him, captivated by Mingyu's cuteness, just like everyone. The taller boy didn't say anything to him. After smiling, he just went straight to the counter where Jeonghan greeted him in his usual way. Mingyu didn't let go of his eyes from the taller, and possibly older, boy before the door went back closed, chiming the bell once again, snapping Mingyu out of his absentmindedness. He shook his head and went out of the door.

"Mingyu!" Kibum, his brother, called out his name and Mingyu looked at his brother on his motorcycle, with his helmed lifted up right on top of his short black hair.

"Hyung!" Mingyu responded as he ran cheerfully toward the older Kim. Kibum ruffled his hair as Mingyu handed his backpack to him. As he put the backpack in front of him, replacing the little helmet for Mingyu he placed there earlier, he could hear grunts from his behind, endearing little grunts, as his little baby brother struggled to get onto the passenger spot. Kibum couldn't help but to chuckle loudly.

Mingyu hit his back as he succeeded getting on. "You're a meanie, Hyung!" he grumbled.

Kibum turned a bit around to look at his pouting little brother, with a smile still clearly drawn on his face. Mingyu had his hands crossed, pouting in a adorable way as he didn't bother to look at his brother. Kibum chuckled once again as he ruffled Mingyu's hair once more, earning an irritated hiss from the younger. "Someday you will be even far taller than me, Gyu," he said, trying to lighten the atmosphere as he handed the small red helmet to his younger brother.

"Now, hold on tight!" Kibum said as he started the ignition, after Mingyu finished wearing his helmet and grabbed onto his hoodie.
