Of course Marco is here too.
Of. Freaking. Course. He . Is.
Ever since the time I saved Justin from the stupid Phoenix years ago, he seems to just mysteriously pop up everywhere I go.
What a drag. If Drake finds us together he's going to think something is up. Great. Just great, oh I think he's talking to me. I guess I should start listening now.
"Are you even listening?" Thatch snaps his fingers in front of my face and I reel back, glaring his way. He still looked the same as the last time I saw him nine months ago.
"No. I wasn't. Why are you here?" I ask, crossing my arms and not looking at Marco. It was hard to when he made my heart do such funny things.
"You know them?" Law asks, a hard stare on his face. He had moved to stand closer to me. Aw, who's protective and scared?
"Unfortunately." I mumble, raising a brow towards Thatch.
"Eh, it was just on our way. Pops saw all the marines gathering and got curious. He wanted to check it out." He shrugs nonchalantly.
"Wow." I scoff. Crossing my arms and glancing towards the sky. I had to get us away from here before they said too much in front of Law. "He sees a huge gathering of marines and runs to them? I thought he was protective of you all?"
"Oy, now, don't talk bad about Pops." Marco says almost harshly, and now drawing my gaze. As I turn slowly, my eyes land on his and my heart skips a beat (see, funny things) I immediately divert them to anything else.
"I wasn't. It was a question, jerk." I frown, looking back at Law who seemed to be trying to figure us out.
"Are you two-"
"No!" I exclaim, then slower I add, "We are not anything..... Ever!" I ignore the amused looks Thatch shares with Marco.
"We should get you out of here. Before my superiors find you. They don't share my same views on young boys playing pirates." I sigh, shaking my head and turning from the two commanders.
"Playing pirates?" Thatch smirks.
"He couldn't be older than sixteen." Marco chuckles.
Law glares, ready to retort when I step in front of him, "do not sink to their level! They have the mentality of three year olds. Law." I place a hand on Law's arm to get him to look at me. "Let's get going." He makes eye contact briefly, nodding, he glances back at the smug pirates- who were now glaring. Making me turn back to them, frowning.
"What?... Marco, what is it?"
"Law?.. As in Trafalgar Law from the Donquixote pirates?" Marco questions slowly, his expression unreadable. Him and Thatch shared a glance, Thatch grimaced at it and they both turned dead serious. It was an uncharacteristic move of theirs. It was rare I saw the both of them so critical.
"Yes." Law answers.
"No! He quit." I say, stepping in front of the boy, after a moments debate I add, "I'm helping him get free. He needs help. And he deserves to be free.."
Marco steps closer, making the conversation a lot more private and personal. "Doflamingo is not the type of person to just let things like this go girly. It's not as simple as you think." Marco stretches his arms forward, it was an unconscious move, I knew that much. His expression softens as he looks down at me. And I have to look away again, the look in his eyes was too heavy. "I don't like the thought of you two even on the same island together."
"I get it Marco. But if I can trick Kaido, then I think I can trick Doflamingo." I give a small smile, looking back to him. He shakes his head, pinching his nose.
