Oh yeah we're delving into Fire Emblem Heroes yOU KNOW WE ARE

And because we're delving into Fire Emblem Heroes, I will give out the warning right here;

***This specific chapter will give spoilers to Book III of Fire Emblem; Heroes. If you haven't played through Book III of Heroes yet, I highly suggest you do so before you read on so you can experience Líf's Story blind, as I won't be delving too into detail as to what exactly happened to him, and I will also be using specific spoiler things, which you will notice as you read on, from time to time. Remember, the game is completely free on the App Store and Google Play so you can go play through the book yourself. You have been warned.***

I know that I got other requests to deal with, and I will, I promise! I just barely managed to summon Líf through his Mythic Hero Event a few days ago, and once I did and saw all the things he said to your character, the Summoner, and combining that with everything that happened in Book III, I legit could not help myself. The idea was so ingrained into my head that I couldn't even sleep at all last night, so I hope you guys will forgive me for my little self-indulgence here, I just had to. All the requests will come after this though, I promise!

With all that being said, I hope you all enjoy!

=============================================

This place was a mirror, in his eyes. A mirror that reflected everything he once knew, everything he once loved. To be honest, he had no desire to see this place again, to see all the life that walked through its halls...

He kept telling himself that he had no choice and was not only dragged here, but was being kept here against his will, but that just wasn't true. What remained of him wouldn't let him believe it.

He remembered it so vividly... a pure, blinding white light that pierced the halls of the dead and made them nearly glow. It was a light that filled him with so much warmth that it was almost overwhelming. But something about it not only gave him the gift of great comfort, but the aching hurt and joy of remembrance. He was sure that Thrasir would've been just as entranced by that light, had she been with him at the time, but he was alone. The part of him that had lived and lost everything was nearly screaming, telling him to ignore it or suffer the pain once more.

But the part of him that loved and yearned for that warmth once more is what dragged him forward towards that blinding light, what made his eyes wrinkle with a lost fondness that he hadn't felt in so long as he let out a breath of contentment. He still remembered his final thought as he let himself become enveloped in the heavenly glow...

'The chill... the brisk air of the Realm of the Dead is cruel... sometimes, it is all too unbearable, simply too much to handle and stand against. But this light... this warmth... it makes me feel as though it was all worth it, worth it to stand against... has fate chosen to be kind to me? What have I done to deserve such an embrace? ... And at what price?'

The price revealed itself not long after. A price that brought his cold exterior out once again, firmly locking away that moment of pure joy he felt for just a few moments. The price... it was far too cruel for something as simple as an escape from the darkened halls of the deceased.

The price was seeing the faces of them all once more... his old Commander, his baby sister, his... his Summoner. All of them were here, alive, and as was his counterpart. A cruel reminder of what he failed to do so long ago, a reminder that he now had to live in the same halls with.

Perhaps he was a bit wrong in his behavior towards them, but it was all for their own good in the end. None of this was his, not even in the slightest, so he was not theirs either. He was not worth any of their time. He was summoned to kill whoever they wanted, and while that was no different from what he did in the Realm of the Dead, it also meant that this was his only purpose here. Not to make friends or bring any of them comfort. No matter who they pointed at and told him to kill, they were killed. Though most of them seemed to get the hint, there were a few that hadn't yet, most being the newest Heroes that the Summoner had summoned and just hadn't known yet.
