Charles was at a council meeting, he had been talking to Henry when a young man came up to them.
"What is it?"
"Pardon my interruption, I have news for his grace."
"What would that be?"
"I was told to tell you its time."
"Thank you."
The young man bowed and left. Charles looked at Henry and smiled.
"I have to go."
"What?"
"Katherine is in labor. She is about to give birth."
"Then you must go Charles."
"I will send word when she has the baby."
"Please do."
Charles bowed, turned and left the room.
Katherine had never felt such pain.
"Breathe my lady." One said to her, Katherine slowed her breathing as best she could, it felt as if her body was being ripped apart. She was sweating and almost screaming as she pushed.
"Just a little longer my lady."
Katherine nodded as best she could. Her eyes cast toward the door to see Charles.
"Your grace, you can't be in here."
"Is she alright?"
"She is fine. Wait in the other room."
"Alright." He said looking at Katherine once before backing from the room.
Half an hour later, Charles had been sitting down at the table he looked up when he heard a baby cry. He stood and looked toward the door.
"She is fine, and you are the father of a beautiful baby girl."
"A girl, a daughter?."
"Yes your grace."
"Can I"
"Give us a few minutes."
"Alright."
Charles could barely contain himself, he turned to one of the male servants.
"Take word to the king that the Duchess has had a beautiful baby girl."
"Yes your grace."
Charles looked up as the servants exited the bedroom and allowed him to go in. He walked into the room, he could see Katherine was tired but she looked happy.
"My Irish rose. You have given me a daughter."
"So they tell me. What do you want to name her?"
"Ciara."
"Its beautiful. Ciara it is."
"I am tired."
"Then rest. I have sent word to Henry of the baby's birth."
"He will be happy. Are you going to come to bed soon?"
"Yes soon." Charles said to her. Katherine nodded and leaned against the pillow and closed her eyes. He walked over and kissed her forehead and left the room.
