Chelsea jotted down all that was written on the whiteboard, that her teacher was talking about during the lesson. History being her favourite lesson for the semester. The bell ended and Chelsea stood up, packing her books into her bag and walking out of the classroom.
Walking through the city of Chicago had its ups and downs, it was a big city yet Chelsea couldn't wait to go and explore more parts of the world when she was a qualified nurse. Chelsea was kind and compassionate, a girl who wanted to help someone get better no matter the cost. Chelsea walked down the road to her parents apartment, in a tall complex. She loved living there, the views from her bedroom were astounding and she always loved waking up seeing the sun rise and seeing the sun set in the sky. Chelsea adjusted the bag on her shoulder and walked into the building heading for her room.
"Mom? Dad?" Chelsea called out as she walked out of the elevator and opened the door. She set her bag down onto the floor by the coat rack and walked around, finding no one at home. She jumped onto the couch and switched on the surround sound letting the music run all the way through the apartment. Chelsea leaned back and closed her eyes, today had been tiring, school work had become harder then it used to but she knew it would be even harder when she wanted to study nursing.
A few hours later, the door opened and in came her little sister, Sophie with her mother and father. "Chelsea can you turn that down please?" Her father spoke as he started to undo his tie and she watched as he placed his briefcase on the table near the kitchen, Chelsea groaned and turned down the music.
"Honey, how many times have we told you with the music? We've had some complaints from neighbours in the last three months, we don't need anymore." Her mother spoke warmly to her.
"Chelsea are you even listening to your mother?" Her father interjected. "I need to talk to you all as a matter of fact? Hon, sit down please, and Chelsea you may want to listen to this."
Chelsea was intrigued now, she wanted to know what her father had to say, she watched as her mother sat down on the couch next to her. "So, as you know.. I'm always looking out for new job opportunities and I've found." He beamed a smile and looked at his wife.
"Where is this job dad?" Chelsea asked the all important question.
"Pennsylvania." Chelsea's eyes grew large.
"Are you joking?" Chelsea jumped up from the couch and threw her arms up into the air.
"Chelsea!" Her mother said immediately after.
"It's not final yet, but I'm thinking of taking the job." Chelsea grunted and walked off into her room, slamming the door behind her."But Chels... You can't leave! We have our finals in the next few weeks." Her friend, Lydia spoke over the phone to her.
"I know but whatever my dad says has to happen. trust me when I say I really don't want to go."
"But Chicago is your home!" Lydia whined on the other end of the line. Chelsea sighed and nodded her head, even though she knew her friend couldn't see her.
"It's not happening yet, maybe in a few weeks... a month tops?"
"A month?" Lydia practically screamed.
"Yeah..." Chelsea was stuck on what to say. "Hey Lyds I'm gonna have to go, i have a ton of work due tomorrow which I should actually do, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay, babe. I'll see you tomorrow." Chelsea moved her phone from her ear and placed it on her pillow. She sat up, quickly changing into her pyjamas and going to grab something to eat. As she walked through the apartment, she saw the television flickering in the lounge. Her dad shot up from the couch and looked in her direction.
"Honey.." He spoke first, standing up and walking over to her. You could tell he had fallen asleep, since his shirt was all crimped and his hair all messy on the top of his head. "listen..."
"I don't want to know, dad. I came out of my room to get a snack and I'm going back to bed." Chelsea reached into the refrigerator and pulled out an apple.
"I know you don't want to leave the city, but there is a real reason for it." He lightly smiled at her, she shrugged and walked off closing the door behind her.A week later, she bent on her decision to move cities, all she wanted to do was get finished with school and then she's consider moving, her dream was too become a nurse and moving halfway through the year wouldn't be the best decision to make. As Chelsea walked around the school all she heard was "Is it true your moving Chelsea?" And that had been said approximately twenty times during the day, and the last person to ask was going to get a mouth full from Chelsea. But first, Chelsea had to find out the only person she had told, her so called best friend Lydia. Chelsea walked around the school, pushing her brown hair behind her ear and walked along the corridor to find her friend. It didn't take her long before she heard the laughter of her other two friends. "So is she definitely moving away?" One of the girls said.
"I think so." she heard Lydia reply. "hopefully she moves soon, Chelsea has just become boring since she wants to become a nurse. All I want to do is go shopping and have manicures with my girlfriends is that so much to ask?" Lydia moaned to the girls. "plus then I can get Tommy from her." Chelsea silently gasped, by covering her hand over her mouth. "We've pretty much done everything behind her back anyways... so when she's gone he's mine." Chelsea heard her who she thought was her friends walk away. She leaned against the lockers and stifled a cry, before clutching her books to her chest and left walking out the doors of the school and running home.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
