Personality: Mathias is an absolute dork, but in the best way of course. He's that classic joking, goof-ball friend who has a tendency to be a bit clumsy from time to time. However, he is generally good-natured about most everything. Don't underestimate him, though. Despite his general docile and joking persona and his aloof disposition, Mias knows what he's doing. He's capable, clever, and pretty strong, even if he might not always look it. He knows how to hold his own and he's loyal to those he's close to. He's a protector, and it's no surprise he ended up in Dauntless. He's also genuinely a caring person deep down and tends to be someone who helps others more than is probably necessary for someone of his position. There's obviously a lot more to Mathias than what meets the eye, but this is just a brief synopsis.
Background: Mathias grew up as an only child to a basic Abnegation couple. His parents were nothing short of selfless and plain and everything asked of them. His childhood lacked a lot of the luster he perhaps craved. Ultimately, he just never fit in quite right, either by acting out of turn or choosing to stand up for others when he was always told it was best to not be seen or heard. However, Mias always felt helping people was important, and that aspect of Abnegation still lingers with him. He grew up next door to Abnegation 2 and therefore knows her pretty well, but they weren't exceptionally close. Ultimately, upon decision day, he decided to transfer to Dauntless, where he felt his skills would best suit him and a place where he was free to be whoever he wanted to be. He went through initiation with the Leader (Mykenna) and the Trainer and became good friends with the both of them, yet formed perhaps a better friendship with Mykenna overall. He was kind of caught in the middle during the whole scandal of the Trainer and Mykenna's break up, but ultimately sided with Mykenna. He now works in security and pretty much loves his job and his faction.
