It's 2250 and there are five facts a person needs to know in this world: It's ruled by fourteen men under one religion(Satanism) and one currency (Yuan). The constitution has been eradicated - people no longer have the right to bear arms. The rich purchase and legally traffic the poor who are  encouraged to rack up as much debt as possible. Three-strike law is the "bible" people follow - a third crime always equals life in prison. People who actively fight against the new regime are publically shot as an example.

Kender Thomas, a gifted martial artist, has three strikes for trespassing on the billionaire Hayden Marks's - the man who bought her sister - property.  That should've been an instant life in prison sentence, but instead of turning her in he offers a choice. The decision she makes will haunt her forever.

Second Summary:

Kender Thomas. an exceptionally talented martial artist and dedicated family member,
is being blackmailed. In order to save her sister, she has to risk their lives for another
in prison. It's a gender diverse prison that caters to the riches needs involving sex,
blood, and torture. Inmates of Baton have less rights than an Owned--a person
purchased by another. While many things have been legalized in this new world, like
human trafficking and public executions, one thing remains illegal. Cannibalism.

Baton prison hides their cannibalistic tendencies on the third floor, the hospital ward.
It's an inmate number that decides ones fate. A number ending in 54 is safe, but only
one inmate has ever had that number... Kender and the lead doctor has become
intrigued. Despite her inmate number, the efforts of Rafe, the man she's falling for,
and Jax, the man who owns her, Kender still finds herself on the third floor fighting
for her life and the life she has to save.
