*Avianna's POV*

I watched his smirk on the monitor until it went black.

"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Banner asked

"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Rogers asked a strange-looking man in a red cape who I recognised from the stories.

"He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract," Thor explained.

"An army? From outer space?" Rogers asked

"So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for," Banner said.

"Selvig?" Thor repeated

"He's an astrophysicist," Banner replied

"He's a friend," Thor added.

"Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours," Natasha spoke up, I placed a hand on her shoulder being as close to Clint as she was.

"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here," Rogers commented.

" I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him," Banner shook his head.

"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother," Thor warned.

"He killed 80 people in two days," Natasha replied, Thor looked dumbstruck

"He's adopted," I offered, Thor chuckled and nodded while everyone besides Natasha looked surprised as they hadn't noticed me.

"Sorry, who are you?" Rogers asked

"Avianna Brookes, Fury asked me to help," I introduced and stuck my hand out for him to shake.

"Nice to meet you," Rogers nodded, Banner gave me a wave and a small smile which I returned.

"Iridium, what did they need Iridium for?" Banner asked as he looked into the file.

"It's a stabilizing agent," The infamous Tony Stark swaggered into the room, followed closely by Coulson.

"Means the portal won't collapse on itself like it did at SHIELD," Tony continued. He slapped Thor's arm

"No hard feelings Point Break, you've got a mean swing," Thor looked confused.

"Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants," Tony turned back to Banner.

"Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the topsails. That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did," Tony stepped up onto Fury's control pad. He covered one eye with his hand and proceeded to turn around

"How does Fury do this?" He asked quietly

"He turns," Agent Hill remarked.

"Well, that sounds exhausting. The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube,"

"When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?" Hill asked

"Last night. The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?" Tony replied Rogers ignored him

"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?"

"He's got to heat the cube to a Hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier," Banner replied

"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunnelling effect," Tony countered

"Well, if he could do that he could achieve heavy-ion fusion at any reactor on the planet," Banner said back.

"Finally, someone who speaks English," Tony grinned.

"Is that what just happened?" Rogers asked I laughed lightly at his confusion. Tony and Banner shook hands

"It's good to meet you, Dr Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster," Tony gushed

"Thanks," Banner replied, looking at his shoes.

"Dr Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him," Nick Fury walked in.

"Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon," Rogers said.

"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys," Fury replied

"Monkeys? I do not understand," Thor's eyebrows furrowed

"I do! I understood that reference," Rogers replied, looking proud of himself while Tony rolled his eyes.

"Shall we play doctor?" Tony asked Banner

"Let's play some," Banner nodded and they walked out of the main room and headed for their lab. Once they had left I walked back over to the monitor and turned it on, the image of Loki sitting in his cell reappeared and I felt a presence behind me, I turned and was surprised to see Thor watching over my shoulder

"He's misunderstood," I said quietly watching the God of Mischief.

"I agree, there is still good in him but it has been shrouded with something that I do not understand," Thor nodded.

"We'll work it out," I promised him.

"Thank you, Lady Avianna,"

"Please, just call me Avi," I turned and smiled at him.

"Don't worry big guy, we got this," I patted his shoulder and walked off to find Natasha in the training room.
