"Even after a week, you are still the talk of the internet. You and Spider-Man that is. People just love the young brilliant intern of Tony Stark" Nat explained to me as she held the punching bag
It has been a week since the museum opening, and I apparently made quite the impression. I did talk to lots of people and did a few interviews. It was strange to see myself on the internet, but I mostly ignored it.
I punched the punching bag as hard as I could over and over again. Aunt Nat and Uncle Steve insisted that I start training with them so I could learn how to defend myself.
"Good. You're pretty strong for someone your age. But you need to work on your stance. Speed your legs apart farther and put more weight on your back leg. Now one hit after the other" Nat instructed me
I moved my feet and punched the bag over and over again until I pretended to get tired. Faking super strength was more difficult than I expected.
"Good. You did well Peter. Now Steve is over by the weights training with Clint and Bucky, you should go join him" I nodded and started to walk away, but she grabbed my arm before I could leave
"So I heard a little rumor that you can dance? Don't worry I won't tell anyone, but I used to be a professional dancer. If you ever want some training, you can ask me" I had no idea that she was a dancer?
"I would love that. Thanks"
I love dancing. I grew up doing ballet and gymnastics, so those skills helped with Spider-Man. Of course no one really knew about this, except mom and dad, so I don't know how Nat found out.
After I was done talking to Nat, I ran over to the weight room to see Bucky spotting Clint.
"Hey Peter! How about we start a little easy?Even though you are incredibly fit for someone your age, I wanna see what you can do" Steve told me
He passed me a weight and it weighed nothing to me. It was only 50 pounds. I rolled my eyes and I joined him by the weights.
"Okay it seems that's too easy, let's go to 100" Steve said handing me two dumbbells
"This is still too easy. How about I try 150? That's what I was doing last time" I told him and grabbed the weights
I held them both and pretended to struggle with them. Honestly they were as light as a feather.
"Pretty impressive Peter. We will have to start off harder next time. Do a couple of benches with these, then we will show you our weight training. It goes up to 30 tons, Bucky and I can probably only lift 10 tons each"
Tons? I probably could lift that much too, but I haven't done much weight training. I probably should sneak down here later and try their weights. While Bucky and Steve went to work out with Clint, I continued to use the dumbbells.
"Aww. Look at you kid. Working out with the big boys. I'm surprised you actually have muscles being that you're so tiny" Sam said laughing and I turned around to see him dressed his his running gear
He always gave me a hard time about my age, but I secretly knew he liked me. I did have abs and an extremely fit body for someone my age, and it was all because of the spider bite. Ned told me I was "jacked" and that if Flash saw me he would be incredibly jealous.
"This coming from the man who runs miles everyday so he can keep up with the "big boys" during jogs. How many times do you have to hear "on your left" before you give up?" I asked him and I could hear Steve laughing
"You're a funny kid. How about the next time you try to lift more than your body weight, I invite your girlfriend down here so she can watch?" He yelled making kissy noises at me
I turned bright red after that, and the rest of the guys started laughing. I hated when they teased me about Wanda because I always started blushing, which only caused them to tease me more. I totally didn't have a crush on her....like not at all....I couldn't.
"Come on Pete. We know you like Wanda. Don't you want to impress her with your abs of steel?" Clint asked sitting up
"No I don't. Why should I impress her? I don't know what your talking about! If you'll excuse me, I'm going to the lab to help dad" I told them before putting the weights away and walking out of the gym
I rode the elevator up to my floor and changed my clothes before going to dad's lab. I liked training and everything, but working in the lab is where I felt the most at peace.
I walked in the lab to hear dad blasting his music. I wasn't a fan of his taste in music.
"Why do you have to listen to Led Zeppelin so loud?" I asked him over the music
"Disowned. You are officially disowned. This is AC/DC. Jesus have I been failing you this much already?" He asked me, he looked like I just killed somebody
"Sorry" But I really wasn't
"Moving on from this disappointing conversation. How was training with the team?" Dad asked me and I sat down at my station
"Fine. They treat me like I'm a weak kid. The most I lifted today was 150 pounds, which was as light as a feather"
"Well hopefully you faked it well enough. How about you work on your web fluid some more? I know you are trying to make it stronger"
I wanted to prevent someone from breaking out of my webs for a longer period than two hours. All I needed to figure out was what chemical component I was missing. I probably needed to consult uncle Bruce about it. Meanwhile, all week dad has been working on some sort of secret project at his workstation, and he won't tell me what it is. He said I will find out when he is done, which is so unfair because I could probably help.
The Greatest Showman soundtrack was blasting through my headphones as I started creating more web fluid. Once that was done, I started working on vibranium arrows for Clint. He wanted something stronger, so I decided to give it a try.
Hours later.....
After working in the lab for a few hours, dad and I were called down for dinner. I ran to the elevator and immediately walked into the kitchen when it opened. Mom decided to make pot roast, which I loved.
I sat down in my seat and waited for everyone else to join. Once the table was full we all dug in and started eating. Everyone was having their own conversations, while I just ate my food.
"So Peter....I heard that your birthday is next week. You're turning 15? That's a pretty big deal" Nat asked me
"Yeah. I'm excited because my friends Ned and MJ will be back by then" I told them
"We of course will celebrate next Friday, you know presents and cake. I expect you all to get him something...." Dad starts to say
"They don't need to get me anything"
I did not want to make them give me stuff. They have only been here for two months, and I don't even know if they would want to get me anything.
"Of course we do. You're our nephew now" Clint said and everyone else nodded their heads
"Your birthday is a big deal. Friday we will have your party and then Saturday you can go spend the night with Ned and MJ like we promised" Mom said ruffling my hair
I smiled and continued eating my dinner. It will be my first birthday without May, so I was nervous. I always loved my birthday because May, Ben and I would eat cake and sit and watch movies all day. It was always so special. This birthday was going to be hard, but I knew my family would help me get through it. I couldn't wait.
