Jay and Hailey

1 Partners through anything.

Haileys POV
"I'm chasing a suspect down 29th and Park."
I said into my radio.
Halstead Responded
"Copy I'm heading that way right now."
"I'm on foot,repeat officer on foot."
"Copy,I'm coming right now."
"I need back up to peak drive."
I said into my radio before turning the corner to a gunfire into my direction.
"Shots fired at the police."
"Hailey are you okay."
Jay said to me right as I took a bullet to the chest.
"Jay I'm shot."
"I'm coming".just then Jays truck appeared out from the corner.
He hopped out,
"Officer shot,repeat I have an officer shot."
Jay slid next to me,and immediately checked if the bullet went through.
It sure did because there was blood
Jays POV
Oh crap Haileys shot,I quickly drove around the corner to see Hailey lying there on the ground.
And it looks like the shooter already got away because when I got there Everything was still.
I ran up to Hailey and knelt down next to her.
"I'm gonna check if it went through."
"Mmhmm."Hailey gestured
Then I felt took off her vest to see a gunshot through the side of her shoulder.
I felt her back and she flinched.
I would imagine she would be in more pain but Hailey's strong,she's just not showing it.
"Jay did it go through?"
"Yeah Hails it did,I need to put pressure on it okay."
"Alright just tell me when."
"Now"
I said
Just then I placed both my hands on her shoulder to help control the bleeding.
She groaned ,and was probably so ready to kill me for the pain.
Her eyes started to fall.
"No Hailey I need you to stay with me,come on stay with me."
"I'm trying to,it's hard Jay."
"I know the ambulance are here,I'm going to ride with you to the hospital."
"Jay I love you."
And that's when it got real.
I carried her to the gourney, and then hopped on the ambulance with her.
She was now crying for how bad the pain was.
"Can you give her something for the pain."
"Unfortunately we need her to stay awake so we can't give her much."
One of them said.
"Hailey just hang in there,they can't give you anything for the pain except a few Tylenol."
"What Jay I have a gunshot wound not a freaking headache."
"I know but you might fall asleep from the meds."
"They need you to stay awake."
"What if I promise to stay awake,you can even shake me to stay awake."
Then I leaned down and whispered in her ear "I love you too."
She smiled at me.
"Now will you tell them I promise to not fall asleep."
"I'll ask them."
They still refused to give her some meds.
"We are almost to the hospital the doctors will decide."
"Okay,you hear that Hailey."
"Yeah sounds great."
I heard her say in a raspy tone.
"Just hang in there."
"You'll be okay."
"Alright."
She said,then reached over with her right hand to grab mine.
I interlocked our fingers and squeezed her hand for reassurance.
She gave me a weak smile.

"I'll be be good."
"I promise."
The doctors told her she'd need surgery which I already expected.
She was nervous,and it was a risky surgery but I convinced her because it's better to try to get the bullet out than leave it in to cause more damage.
The surgery went well,except Hailey had to meet a physical therapist to strengthen her arm.
And it was going to take a lot of convincing to get her out of bed to get her to physical therapy.
