April 25

After school.

Let's see what other options I have for clubs, not much from what I read. There's the drama club I can join, sure why not, should be fun. First, another lecture from Morooka though.

I managed to find my way to the drama room. It wasn't hard, this isn't a big school. I came in in the middle of some kind of exercise.

"Let's move on to tongue twisters." A male student said. "Ready? The sixth chick's cheek shixth cheep, argh!"

"The six sick sheik's six sheep's sick!" A girl said. "You're still not saying it correctly, are you sure you're the club president?"

"Oh a new guy! You're Bessho from Second year right? One of the transfer students? I see I see, welcome to the drama club! I'm the club president Nagai and this is-"

"Oh a new guy! You're Bessho from Second year right? One of the transfer students? I see I see, welcome to the drama club! I'm the club president Nagai and this is-"

"I'm Yumi Ozawa." The girl said. "I'm in the second year, same as you. Nice to meet you."

"Yumi are you trying to get your hooks into the new guy already?"

"Huh? Not in the slightest. Anyway let's continue practicing." Yumi said

"We don't have a stage and we haven't even decided on a script yet, so we're just training. I'm sure you'll catch on." Nagai said. "Our club meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays."

"We're not going to throw you out if you don't show up, but the more you train the better get, right? Oh yeah I'm the club's Vice President, I'm not really much help though." Another girl said

"It's ok Mi-tan, I know you put a lot of effort into it. Besides, you're so cute." Nagai said

"Don't call me Mi-tan in front of everybody!"

Yumi walked up to me.

"Y/n let's forget about them! Let's practice ok? We'll start with voice lessons." She said

Later, it was just us in the room.

"That's right, focus on your stomach. Push the air out, now say ahhh!"

"Ahhh." I said

"That's good! You've gotten a lot better than when we started. Huh? School's over already? Everybody's already gone! I didn't even notice. I'll see you next time, come to practice, ok?" She said

"Yes Ma'am." I said

"I'm glad to see you can take orders. Well fate must have brought us here, let's do the best we can with what we have." She said

I joined the drama club and have become acquaintances with Yumi Ozawa. She's pretty dedicated to acting. Might be a start of a good friendship.

"Oh yeah, have you ever gone to see a play or a musical being performed live? I have a DVD you can borrow, it'll definitely help with your technique. The others in the drama club don't watch this kind of stuff or even talk about it." She said

Yumi passionately talked about drama as we headed home together.

Evening.

I was up in my room reading a book when a link portal appeared. It was flashing the words incoming call. Didn't know I could get reception with this thing. How do I - oh there's an arrow lighting up. I tapped that and Emma's face appeared.

"Hey Y/n! How are you doing!? How's Inaba?" She asked

"Good, quiet for the most part." I said. Not sure if I should tell her about the investigation team just yet.

"I hope it's not getting too boring over there, you staying out of trouble?" She asked

"For the most part yes, I've been keeping busy that's for certain." I said

"That's good. I just wanted to call to see how you're holding up, and to give you some news. New (and by new I mean it was discovered while you were in Juvie and they're only investigating now) evidence has come up in your case, they found DNA on the woman that didn't belong to you or her." She said

"Meaning there's a chance all this crap with my record can go away. That's great, have they identified it yet?" I asked

"... no. They're going over old evidence, but it won't take much to write it off as coincidence. I'm sorry." She said

"It's fine. Listen, I wasn't going to tell you this-"

"Oh god what happened? Did you knock a girl up? Please tell me you didn't get someone pregnant!" She said. "Joking. I know you better than that."

"No I didn't get someone pregnant. Something's happened here in town, and I have reason to believe that the one who killed mom and dad is here." I said

"...Y/n, that was an accident, a terrible accident, but, no one killed them." She said

"Normally I'd agree with you, except there were two more people that died the exact same way here. Hung upside down on an antenna, no markings on the body, no injuries, nothing." I said

"Believe me, I want to believe that it wasn't an accident as well, I want someone to pay too, but that isn't going to change anything. Maybe sending you so far away wasn't a good idea." She said

There was awkward silence between the two of us for a couple minutes.

"So how's the leg?" She asked

"Sore, I've been putting it to work quite a bit lately. Got a part time job at the local daycare." I said

"That's good, maybe the kids will help you take your mind off things. I gotta go, it was nice seeing you!" She said

"You too. Love you sis. Tell Kengo I said hi." I said.

"Love you too, and I will." She said

The call ended.

Man, the three of us have all been through hell together, Kengo's suffered the worst by far, but, he's always been there for us when things have gone bad.
