Chapter 22 Surprise

17th November 1942

Tine was having breakfast with Sarawat and Fukuda, he was drinking his tea when he noticed that Fukuda was staring at a really handsome guy who was in the dining hall as well. Tine smirked and wispered so that only Sarawat and Fukuda could hear

"Fukuda san, don't you think that your boyfriend would be a little jealous?" 

Fukuda couldn't stop looking at that guy and shook his head

"What do you mean Fukuda?" Tine asked confused

"He wouldn't... he's my boyfriend..." Fukuda said pointing at the guy who was now walking out of the hall.

"I thought that the krean resistance kidnapped him" Sarawat added

"I thought the same but... I'm sorry but I have to go now" Fukuda said and stood up a little too fast. He ran to reach his lover and when he grabbed his wrist and forced him to look at him he smiled

"Ryo..." Fukuda said with a melancholic smile. Ryo looked at him, Akio could see the love in his eyes... but he couldn't stand the words that Ryo's mouth was about to pronounce

"go... please..." and with tearful eyes Ryo turned back and went away. 

It was like his heart stopped beating... he couldn't feel anything except feeling like everything he had was now falling off his hands. 

Fukuda started walking up and down the ship shouting and crying for Ryo, he wanted him to come back, now. He was walking through one of those endless corridors when he felt the pressure of a hand on his mouth and pushed him inside a closet

"Shut up! Are you crazy?!"

"Why do you want to leave me Ryo! You know I can't live without you... and I know you can't too..." Akio said crying

"I said shut up... or she will find us..."

"She?"

"Yes... miss Park..."

"Who is she? tell me something else about her, I will call the police... we will wait for the end of this stupid war and when the Empire will win we will spend the rest of our life on a tiny island and..." Fukuda said but then Ryo interrupted him

"What? Do you really thing that it's going to be that easy? Seriously?! Listen to me now, you have to get off this ship as soon as possible, tonight the ship will arrive in Manila, you will get off and disappear... tell me that you will do as I told you"

"Why!? Why do you want me to go away?"

"Because they will kill you too! Are you dumb or just naive? even if you kill the targets they will kill both of us... no matter what you do... so please... let me help you... at least this time... listen to me..." Ryo said trying to hide that he ws crying exactly like his boyfriend.

"Ryo..."

"I don't want them to kill you... and I will do anything I can just to... to..." Ryo couldn't continue anymore and buried his face in Akio's chest. 

"Ryo..."

The door of the closet opened all of a sudden, Fukuda's eyes widened as he saw who opened the door, that woman with the wide hat, she pulled Ryo out of the closet, he fell onto the floor, he looked at her, he wasn't begging for his life, he just wanted to save Fukuda... it was his last wish. The woman nodded, she looked at the other guy in the closet

"Come closer... don't you want to save your beloved Suzuki... Ryo?" She said calmly

"Please... I will do whatever you want... but please... please... let him go..." Fukuda begged

"You really don't have to worry about him... actually... I wanted to kill you" she replied, the gun she had in her hands was against Fukuda's chest, she was about to shoot when Ryo pulled her arm, she shoot... but another target got hit, Ryo. 

"Shit!" she shouted and ran away. Ryo was gasping for air as blood started flooding his throat, Akio came closer to him in order to help him even if he knew he couldn't do anything to save him. 

"Ryo..." Fukuda repeated a few times, after one last smile Ryo died in front of him. Akio's hands were covered in his boyfriend's blood, he heard a weird noise just behind his ear, he turned back and saw the lady that killed Ryo, he stood up

"Don't miss your target this time..." Fukuda said calmly. She looked at him and was ready to shoot. One bullet took his boyfriend away, another one was about to help them meet again. 

"Fukuda san?" 

"yes... come on" he said smirking

"Fukuda san are you alright?"

"What?" 

"I suppose that he needs a coffee today" Sarawat said chuckling

"Yeah I think you're right, excuse me! A cup f coffee for my friend here, thank you" Tine said, a waiter nodded and went to prepare his order.

"What... what..." 

"It's the first time I see you asleep in a random place, are you sure you're ok?" Tine repeated

"You shouldn't worry too much Tine, I think that I'm a bad example, you know I fall asleep wherever I am" Sarawat said sipping his coffee. 

"Here's your coffee sir" the waiter said as he placed the cup in front of Fukuda. Tine looked at Sarawat like asking why Fukuda was acting so weirdly, he then looked at Akio and added

"So, now you have to tell us why you didn't come to meet us yesterday"
