"I been straight. How you been lately?" Tremaine asked as he carried a phone conversation on the phone with his momma. I sat and watched as he talked to her, smiling from ear to ear as his other arm was thrown across the back of the chair we sat in

Instead of going home after we came home from school I stayed at his house with him since my siblings went to Aunt Terri's for the weekend. While they continued their conversation I just texted Akira until an unknown number messaged me

I rolled my eyes and left the message on read

"Egypt" Tremaine called out, catching my attention "you good?"

"Yeah... I was just texting my momma"

"She must've told you some shit you ain like, the way yo face was bawled up just now"

"Yeah but it's all good" I laughed while sitting my phone down

"She cool witchu bring over here?"

I nodded. She did know that I was gonna be over here but she just didn't know that it was gonna be only me and Tremaine.

"She was actually glad I got out of the house cause usually I just stay cooped up in the room"

"Ima have to get you out the house more often then"

"I think I'm fine staying in the house. I don't talk to people, I don't party or none of that so what else is there for me to do"

"It don't hurt to party every once in a while or meet new people here and there. You 16, it's that time in your life where you supposed to do wild shit and have fun. Shit, if I wasn't in basketball ain no tellin what id be getting my ass into"

"You the only basketball player I know that don't smoke, drink and sleep around everyday.. or at least not that I know of"

Tremaine chuckled while throwing his arm across my shoulder pulling me back on him "Nah. Ion sleep around, but I do smoke every now and then and I'll drink sometimes"

"Ya grandma know?"

He kissed his teeth making me laugh

"Hell no. She'll kill my ass. She barely like the people I hang around, especially Christian ass"

"I mean you see Christian. I don't blame her"

"He ain that bad like everybody think though. I just think he got some personal shit he dealing with that got him actin like that"

"Personal shit like what? Other than the fact that he think his shit don't stink"

Tremaine looked down at me confused " I thought y'all was cool?"

"I mean.. yeah, I guess, but it's still the truth. I've known Christian for a long time and he has yet to prove anybody otherwise. Sometimes I wonder how come you're cool with them"

"I been playing ball with them for years. They like my brothers. And the way Christian was talking he'on play bout you"

"I bet so" I muttered under my breath while rebraiding the end of one of my braids again "can I ask you a question?"

"Wassup?"

"What happened to that girl you used to date... I don't remember her name"

"Who? Essence?"

"No-wait you used to date essence?"

"I meannn.. we messed around for a lil bit over summer and shit but she was telling people we was in a relationship"

"Oh" I plainly responded, not knowing about that at all

"But don't even worry bout that cause we'on even speak nomore. I been single for a lil minute now"

"How do y'all do that?"

"Do what?"

"Have sex and then just completely ignore each other like it never happened"

Tremaine shrugged as I sat up, turning in the chair to face him

"Cause I guess it ain mean shit to me. Honestly we was both drunk at a party the first time but then she kept hittin me up and plus she right down the road so it wasn't shit to slide through. But the minute I found out she was tellin people we was together I said something to her about it and she got mad so now we'on talk. We was supposed to keep it low key but she wanted to run her damn mouth"

"Some people just can't keep their business to themselves"

"We need more females like you around here. Ion ever hear shit about you unless you tell me"

"Cause I never have any business to tell. My life is boring"

"It gotta be something interesting"

I shook my head and watched him as he ran his tongue across his lips while eyeing me

"You don't smoke?"

"Nope"

"Drink?"

"Nope"

"You still a virgin?"

I stayed quiet which made Tremaine sit up straight almost shocked.

"Oh shit Egypt, you be fuckin?"

"I can't say who but it was a complete mistake that I never want to happen again"

"Damn it was that bad?"

"I mean I don't know. But I feel like I was taken advantage of"

"He told you whatchu wanted to hear just to fuck"

I nodded and he let out a breath "don't let nobody do no shit like that to you again"

"I learned my lesson, I just wish I wasn't so naive"

"Well shit you learned yo lesson so that's the most important thing. Just don't give into them lame ass niggas nomore, matter of fact you ain gotta worry bout that nomore cause I gotchu"

"Got me how?"

"Exactly what I said" he told me as he grabbed my hand "I'm wanna genuinely fuck witchu"

"Forreal? Why?"

"Why not? You way different from all them other girls and I love that about you. And I think I can getchu outta that hard ass shell, help you loosen up some"

"I don't need to loosen up"

"Lie again"

I sucked my teeth and we both laughed

"Egypt I've known you for years and I ain gone lie to you. Now like I was saying, I think you just needa give me a chance"

I couldn't help but smile at Tremaine, feeling like this really wasn't real. I realized that he still held onto my hand but I didn't pull it away

"Alright then.. but do that mean I can keep that hoodie you let me borrow the other day?"

He laughed while nodding

"Yeah"

"Good cause I wasn't planning on giving it back"

"I bet so" he playfully nudged me before pulling me back against him again and I closed my eyes while smiling
